Melvin Council Jr. has a hearing scheduled in Douglas County court on Sept. 4. In the meantime, his lawyers will submit another filing within the next week that addresses recent arguments by the NCAA. www2.kusports.com/sports/college…

Just got out of a status conference for Melvin Council Jr.‘s case. His lawyer Mark Oberstaedt anticipates filing a reply to the NCAA’s latest response by Aug. 28 because it raised some issues Council’s side had not previously addressed. Hearing the morning of Sept. 4.

Big news. Class of 2022 athletes who exhausted four years of eligibility this past spring are now ineligible unless they are part of their own lawsuit/injunction. Not much in terms of rationale, but, notably, one of the three judges on the panel would have denied the stay.

Kory Amachree, Carter Moses and Cam Pickett are among the players who have been banged up lately. Asked about Pickett in particular, Lance Leipold said he doesn't expect the injury to keep him out much longer and he should be ready for the opener.
