- Helpful background from @benlynch07 on today's vote on whether to let black cabs back into Bank Junction on weekdays:
- #BlackCabs are #PublicTransport & are essential for providing choice for all who want to travel in the @cityoflondon In May @ShravanJoshi pointed out "it may be a small % [with] those needs, but I think it’s important we don’t say oh it’s alright because the 99% are OK.”Potential lifting of restrictions on Black Cabs at Bank Junction covered by @BBCLondonNews - watch whole clip. @LordChrisHolmes restriction on Black Cabs “can’t be right on equality or economic grounds” Court of Common Council @cityoflondon will debate & vote. lifting
- Like #Buses, #Taxis are #PublicTransport From #InclusiveTransportStrategy (@transportgovuk): "[Taxis are] ESSENTIAL...enabling #disabled people to complete door-to-door journeys where other forms of #transport are not available or #accessible" #BankJunction @cityoflondon
- This week, Thurs 20 June, the @cityoflondon common council will be deciding whether to allow #BlackCabs access to #BankJunction. This is a huge question of #accessibility for #disabled people. I have written to all members urging them to vote to allow taxis & ensure #AccessForAll@newdawn75 explains why black cabs are important in London ‘It’s because they are accessible, drivers help you, they are easy to get in & out, there is lots of space for 🦮Nellie. Sarah is disgusted black cabs do not have access to all areas. This need to change. #CabsAcrossBank
