- This is true. We can track the flow of California outmigration from 1991 to 2021. Overall, CA lost a 4.6M to domestic outmigration. The vast majority end up in nearby Western states - or Texas. People move to where they can afford! And CA housing is very hard to afford.California’s NIMBYism and Prop 13, which created a landed gentry, is far more effective than any wall at keeping people out. It yeets poor people, new people and, above all, young people from the state and banishes them to Texas and Nevada. We need housing by right everywhere.
