    馃摙 AI 'news' are easy to make and hard to detect! Did you know that there's already 1K+ scammy LLM-powered 'news' sites? In #ACL2024 paper led by @gpuccetti92, we show that such 'news' are too easy to produce (even beyond English) - and nearly impossible to detect 'in the wild'.

    I have now used the Better Place exclusively for a month: - more cool papers than I can read - engagement 100500x better - #NLProc network largely re-created - all the conferences present - much better for mental health & arc of the moral universe See you there.

    馃摙 Please repost the Better Place news: - at least 6K #NLProc people - # NLP tag reclaimed - success finding emergency reviewers - people tinker with custom feeds, incl. for AI/ML research - acc. to Altmetric, many new papers get more attention there than on any other platform /1

    The Better Place update for last week: - at least 2.5K new #NLProc people, judging by the number of those who used Maria's starter pack - ACL, COLM, FAccT, ICLR have joined - much better engagement with content you post, external links aren't penalized See you there!

    The only piece of good news this morning is that in the bluer place, Maria Antoniak made a starter pack of #NLProc people already there. It's pinned in her profile. Feels surreal to have real engagement on posts and see real conversations.

    Time is running out to apply for postdoc/PhD positions in beautiful Copenhagen! PhD applications can also be made through the ELLIS network (by Nov 15). The earliest possible starting date is January 1, but later dates can also be negotiated.

    馃摙 #NLProc I'm hiring! 2x PhD students (apply by Nov 22) & postdoc (Nov 15). These positions are part of a large project on the problem of attribution for LLM outputs to the original data sources, on which LLMs were trained. Job links on my website (in the bio) /1
