Beijing Open Source Silicon Innovation Center is a private non-enterprise organization initiated by the Haidian District Government, Beijing Science and Technology Commission, Beijing Academy of Edge Computing. It will focus on innovation of integrated circuits at its source, deploying global standards, and creating high quality International open source platform. It is commited to create a “hard-core” innovation atmosphere in Haidian District, nurture future development potential of integrated circuits design talents and teams, and promote innovation and development of the national integrated circuits industry.

The China Open Command Ecosystem (RISC-V) Alliance (CRVA in English, hereinafter referred to as the “Alliance”) aims to convene enterprises and institutions engaged in RISC-V instruction set, architecture, chips, software, and complete machine applications. Relevant social organizations voluntarily form a national, comprehensive, joint, and non-profit organization.

The China RISC-V Industry Consortium (CRVIC) was co-established in Shanghai on September 20, 2018 by 65 main RISC-V enterprises and institutions in China. As the first China local RISC-V alliance, CRVIC supports and assists the global RISC-V Foundation in several aspects, and has a friendly collaborative relationship with China RISC-V Alliance (CRVA), which was set up in November 2018.

The CHIPS Alliance develops high-quality, open source hardware designs relevant to silicon devices and FPGAs. By creating an open and collaborative environment, CHIPS Alliance shares resources to lower the cost of development. Companies and individuals can work together to develop open source CPUs, various peripherals, and complex IP blocks. CHIPS Alliance is open to all organizations who are interested in collaborating on open source hardware or software tools to accelerate the creation of more efficient and innovative chip designs.

The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) hosts critical components of the global technology infrastructure. CNCF brings together the world’s top developers, end users, and vendors and runs the largest open source developer conferences. CNCF is part of the nonprofit Linux Foundation.

We are a community of doers who enable open source projects, including Kubernetes, Prometheus, Envoy, and many others. Kubernetes and other CNCF projects have quickly gained adoption and secured diverse community support, becoming some of the highest velocity projects in the history of open source.

Domestic RISC-V enthusiasts use Github collaboration to bring you the latest RISC-V related consultations in the form of bi-weekly briefings, which are also published on the WeChat public account and CNRV site. Global excellence and local relevance in research, teaching, and technology development is the vision of the Department. The Department was started as the Computer Centre in 1973 with the acquisition of an IBM 370, perhaps the most powerful computer in India at that time. It offered M.Tech, M.S and PhD degree programmes. In 1983, the B.Tech degree programme was started.

Today the Department has a vibrant student body numbering about 700. Over 60% are postgraduate, mostly supported by scholarships. The Department also offers several attractive industry-sponsored Fellowships for outstanding PhD scholars and liberally supports participation in top-ranking international conferences.

The department has been funded by FIST program from DST, Govt. of India in 2002 and 2017. The Secure Systems Laboratory is funded by FIST program 2017.

MIPI Alliance is a collaborative global organization serving industries that develop mobile and mobile-influenced devices. The focus of the organization is to design and promote hardware and software interfaces that simplify the integration of components built into a device, from the antenna and modem to peripherals and the application processor. MIPI Alliance crafts all of its specifications to meet the stringent operating conditions required in mobile devices: high-bandwidth performance, low power consumption, and low electromagnetic interference (EMI).

MIPI Alliance specifications, used by all leading chipset vendors, have helped companies in the mobile industry consolidate their integration approaches while creating their own high-level designs that differentiate their products. Every smartphone on the market today has at least one MIPI Alliance specification. The widespread adoption places MIPI Alliance specifications in hundreds of millions of phones, contributing to the voice and data services that customers worldwide enjoy every day.

As mobile connectivity becomes increasingly pervasive in business and society, more industries are leveraging mobile technologies in their designs. These “mobile-influenced” sectors, such as the automotive industry and the burgeoning Internet of Things, are also benefitting from the interface specifications MIPI Alliance provides. MIPI Alliance continues to evolve its technology roadmap to address mobile influenced markets and help drive growth in these exciting, new ecosystems.

MIT Reality Hack is an annual phenomenon that coalesces thought leaders, brand mentors, engineers, designers, and entrepreneurs around experiential technology: participants of diverse backgrounds attend from all over the world to form new teams and hack out working software and hardware prototypes, resulting in novel integrations and content developed for XR devices and platforms. Participants also explore the uncharted realms of deep tech, making inventive use cases for cutting edge hardware and AI enablers.

It is held at MIT in Cambridge, MA co-hosted by a team of community volunteers (alumni, friends, and others) with the Reality Hack Organization 501(c)3 and VR/AR@MIT. We all share a common goal: educate, empower and enable people to be part of the experiential technology industries. We invite participants to spring into action through technology education with a shared intention to build a more sustainable and equitable world for everyone. We mint creators. 

The Open Hardware Diversity Alliance is a RISC-V incubating project with the mission of bringing together the open hardware community to provide programs, networking opportunities, and learning to encourage participation and support to the professional advancement of women and underrepresented individuals in open source hardware.

The youth of Pakistan is hardworking and have brilliant minds, but face a lot of challenges in the technology world. Lack of access to innovative technologies, financial constraints for young entrepreneurs, lack of industry-academia linkage, and not being able to consult and network with the Pakistani successful professionals working in the latest technologies are some of the challenges whose solution lead to the creation of Open Source Foundation of Pakistan.

Usage of Open Source Technologies can help in coping up with the latest and innovative technologies. Contributing to Open Source Technologies could increase the exposure and enhance the experience of the youngsters according to the international market. Young entrepreneurs could save time and money by using already built open-source projects and could increase their revenue by customizing the project according to their needs in a shorter period of time. OSPF’s industry-academia linkage department have a strong voice in shaping the academics according to the industry needs. Connecting professionals to young entrepreneurs and students is a primary objective of OSFP.

The Open Source Hardware Association (OSHWA) aims to foster technological knowledge and encourage research that is accessible, collaborative and respects user freedom. OSHWA’s primary activities include hosting the annual Open Hardware Summit and maintaining the Open Source Hardware certification, which allows the community to quickly identify and represent hardware that complies with the community definition of open source hardware.

OpenForum Europe

OpenForum Europe (OFE) is a not-for-profit, Brussels-based independent think tank which explains the merits of openness in computing to policy makers and communities across Europe.

The openness principles which guide all our activities are: user centricity, competition, flexibility, sustainability, and the importance of relying on the support of a transparent and open community. Our Vision Paper “Towards an Open Digital Single Market” further explains how these principles apply to the DSM.

Originally launched in 2002 to accelerate and broaden the use of Open Source Software (OSS) among businesses, consumers and governments, OFE’s focus has since evolved. OFE currently maintains a Policy Research and Development team based in Brussels, which is supported both by our network of supporters and by specific specialist advisors. The main policy topics that we cover are: standardisation, e-Government, public procurement, copyright, cloud computing and cybersecurity.

OpenHW Group

The  OpenPOWER Foundation is an open technical community based on the POWER architecture, enabling collaborative development and opportunity for member differentiation and industry growth. The goal of the OpenPOWER Foundation is to create an open ecosystem, using the POWER Architecture to share expertise, investment, and server-class intellectual property to serve the evolving needs of customers and industry.

Founded in 2019 as part of Tsinghua-Berkeley Shenzhen Institute (TBSI), the RISC-V International Open Source Laboratory (RIOS Lab) began its journey of bringing the research effort of RISC-V CPU with its software and hardware ecosystems from UC Berkeley to the rest of the world. As a premier member of RISC-V Foundation, RIOS is aiming to demonstrate its commitment to the open source platform for chip developers with far more economical and efficient technology.

Before the end of this decade, RISC-V and open source IP will be popular in all levels of information technology: from the tiniest Internet of Things devices, through cell phones and laptops, to the largest high performance and cloud computers.

The RISC-V Association is an association run by volunteers from domestic and overseas member companies of RISC-V International. From the standpoint of a member company, we support RISC-V event planning for domestic and foreign industry groups, and host or support Member Sponsored Events and Meetups defined by RISC-V International. Currently, SH Consulting Co., Ltd. is the managing company.

The RISC-V Ecosystem & Industry was officially established on August 31, 2023, led by the China Electronics Standardization Association (CESA) and jointly initiated by 30+ enterprises and institutions. It’s a non-profit organization and has nationwide and industry-wide representation. RVEI is targeting to lead the industry collaboration and innovation in China RISC-V industry, create a favorable ecosystem, driving high-quality development across the industry.

The RISC-V Software Ecosystem (RISE) project is a collaborative effort led by industry leaders with a mission to accelerate the development of open source software for the RISC-V architecture. RISE is focused on commercial software readiness in close partnership with RISC-V International to expedite delivery of more innovative RISC-V products into the market.

In order to help Taiwan’s industry enter the AIoT (artificial intelligence + Internet of Things) era, and cut into the commercial market from the open architecture of embedded CPUs, the chairman of the “Taiwan Internet of Things Industry Technology Association” Huang Chongren proposes to cooperate with Powerchip, Zhicheng, and Aegis, Andes, MediaTek, Ruixiang, Power Semiconductor Manufacturing, Liwang, Embedded Translation and other sponsoring companies, “Taiwan RISC-V Alliance” held a launching ceremony on March 7, 108, and invited the Ministry of Economics, the Ministry of Science and Technology and Many professors from Taiwan, Qing Dynasty and Jiaotong attended the meeting to witness.

The main purpose of the establishment of the “Taiwan RISC-V Alliance” is to jointly assist in the introduction of the RISC-V open architecture into Taiwan through the three-party cooperation of industry, academia, and research, and connect the resources of the RISC-V ecosystem at home and abroad, so that Taiwan’s industry can start from R&D. Design to application, can have AIoT integration capabilities, and take advantage of 5G communication trends and business opportunities, thereby enhancing Taiwan’s industrial competitiveness.

The RISC-V open architecture allows manufacturers to quickly develop new applications, especially for new entrepreneurs, not only can save authorization costs in the development phase, but also increase the exclusive instruction set according to their own needs, without being restricted by the original authorization. This is a new opportunity for Taiwan’s technology industry. We invite everyone to join the “Taiwan RISC-V Alliance”.

為協助台灣產業邁入AIoT(人工智慧+物聯網)時代，並從嵌入式CPU開放架構切入商用市場，由「台灣物聯網產業技術協會」黃崇仁理事長倡議，與力晶、智成、神盾、晶心、聯發科、瑞相、力積電、力旺、嵌譯等發起企業協助下，「台灣RISC-V聯盟」於108年3月7日舉辦啟動儀式，並邀請經濟部、科技部與台、清、交大多位教授到場見證。

The seL4 microkernel is the world’s first operating system (OS) kernel with a machine-checked proof of implementation correctness, has further proofs of security enforcement, and is still the only verified OS kernel with capability-based access control, essential for supporting the security principle of least authority. It is designed for use in real-world security- and safety-critical systems and is being deployed in defence, autonomous vehicles, critical infrastructure and more.

The seL4 Foundation is an open, transparent and neutral organisation tasked with growing the seL4 ecosystem. It brings together developers of the seL4 kernel, developers of seL4-based components and frameworks, and those adopting seL4 in real-world systems. Its focus is on coordinating, directing and standardising development of the seL4 ecosystem in order to reduce barriers to adoption, raising funds for accelerating development, and ensuring clarity of verification claims.

India’s First Indigenous Microprocessor

The SHAKTI Processor Program was started as an academic initiative back in 2014 by the Reconfigurable Intelligent Systems Engineering (RISE) group at IIT-Madras. It is completely Open-source. The major aim is to bridge the gap between academia and industry, to provide innovative and customized solutions without the hassles of royalties!

The FOSSi Foundation exists to promote and protect the open source silicon chip movement. It actively encourages the community’s growth and is helping to maintain the open spirit of the movement, through events, educational programmes and working groups. With an international membership of experts from academia and industry, it supports new open source initiatives and collaborations – offering free advice to governments and policy makers, corporations, academics and hobbyists. As a not-for profit organisation, the foundation is independent of any commercial interests and acts as a steward in support of open source projects which broadly benefit the open source silicon community. FOSSi is an acronym for Free and Open Source Silicon.

The Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereafter ICT) was founded in 1956.
It is the first academic establishment to specialize in comprehensive research on computer science and
technology in China. ICT has successfully built China’s first general­purpose digital computer and now has turned
itself into an R&D base for high­performance computing technology. ICT successively spun off many academic
institutions, such as the Institute of Microelectronics, the Computing Center, the Institute of Software, the Network
Information Center, etc. all affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as high­tech companies, such
as Lenovo and Dawning.

The Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISCAS) is a research base that focuses on
the research and development on theories of computer science and leading edge technologies of
software. ISCAS was founded on March 1st, 1985. It is situated at No.4, Zhongguancun South 4th
Street, Haidian District, in Beijing.
ISCAS has already established three scientific research systems. They are basic research system in
leading-edge areas, which is led by several state key laboratories and national engineering research
centers, high technology research system and application research system. ISCAS focuses its
research fields and related research areas on computer science, computer software and computer
application technology etc. Furthermore, RISC-V related research areas focus on system-on-chip
design and optimization as well as implementing tools such as compilers, libraries etc. ISCAS now
is composed of Basic Research Department, Hi-Tech Research Department, Applied Research
Department, Software Development Division, X-LAB as well as Intelligent Software Research
Center. It owns a group of celebrated scientists and a team of young talents with strong research
capabilities.
Fruitful results have been achieved on computer sciences and software technologies by ISCAS for
over 30 years. 42 Achievement Awards at the academy, ministerial and state level are obtained
(ISCAS is the first contributor of the Awards). The awards ISCAS has won range from State Natural
Sciences Award (1 first prize, 2 second prizes and 1 third prize) to State Science and Technology
Progress Award (8 second prizes, 2 third prizes). It’s worth mentioning that since the State Natural
Sciences Award was issued, the first prize award in computer field was given to ISCAS.

The SPDX specification is recognized as the international open standard for security, license compliance, and other software supply chain artifacts as ISO/IEC 5962:2021.
