LOOKING FOR A JOB IN A COOL TEAM? COME WORK WITH US AT WE MAKE THINGS GMBH WE MAKE IN COLOGNE. THINGS WE MAKE ARE THINGS WE LOVE.

As an innovative and consistently growing company with a high grade of authenticity, Cologne based bicycle company WE MAKE THINGS GmbH is searching for you to join the team.

BMX Product Manager (m/f/d)

We Make Things GmbH is the Cologne-based company behind some of the world's most respected BMX brands: Wethepeople (WTP), one of the world's most recognised BMX brands since 1996; Radio Bikes & Radio Raceline, our freestyle and race division; and Éclat, our high-end component brand. We also develop Bombtrack, our gravel and bikepacking brand. Founded in 1996 and incorporated as We Make Things GmbH in 2001, we are represented in over 60 countries worldwide.

We are looking for a BMX Product Manager to take full ownership of our product lines from concept to market. This is a hands-on, technically demanding role based full-time at our office in Cologne. Being present in the office is essential — you need to be close to the team, the product samples, the graphic design team, the engineering team and marketing on a daily basis. You will work closely with our internal teams and communicate directly with our manufacturing partners in Taiwan and Asia.

Your Responsibilities

Product Development & Sourcing

  • Manage the full product development cycle from brief to production — timelines, 2D technical drawings, specifications, and sample reviews
  • Work directly with our manufacturing partners in Taiwan and Asia to develop new products and manage existing lines
  • Read and evaluate 2D technical drawings and use basic 2D CAD tools to communicate design changes to factories
  • Collaborate with QA to ensure products meet quality standards before and during production
  • Provide technical expertise to support the warranty process — evaluating failure cases and feeding findings back into product development
  • Maintain and develop our product range across complete bikes, frames, forks, and key components
  • Evaluate materials and construction to ensure quality, cost targets, and rider requirements are met
  • Coordinate with factories on order windows, pricing, MOQs, and delivery schedules

Product Testing & Rider Coordination

  • Coordinate product testing with our team riders — organise test sessions, collect structured feedback, and translate rider input into actionable product improvements
  • Maintain close, ongoing communication with team riders throughout the development process
  • Document and follow up on test results, issues, and revisions in collaboration with factories

Product Data & Content

  • Prepare and deliver accurate technical specifications and product information for article creation in our internal systems
  • Provide product data and technical descriptions for use on our websites and in digital catalogues
  • Ensure all product information is complete, up to date, and consistent across systems and channels
  • Work closely with the graphic design and marketing teams to ensure new products are presented correctly across all channels

Your Profile

Experience & Knowledge

  • A genuine passion for BMX — you ride, follow the scene, and understand what matters to riders
  • An inventive spirit and product vision — we are always open to bold ideas and BMX visionaries who want to push the culture and the product forward
  • Experience in product management or product development within the bike or action sports industry
  • Strong technical understanding of bicycle construction, geometry, and components
  • Ability to read and work with 2D technical drawings; experience with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks is an advantage
  • Experience working directly with riders or athlete teams

Tools & Systems

  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Personal Skills
  • Fluent in English — written and spoken — this is the primary working language for all factory, supplier, and international communication
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Able to work closely and effectively with cross-functional teams in the same office — design, engineering, marketing
  • Reliable, resilient and able to set priorities independently
  • Based in Cologne or willing to relocate — this is a full-time, on-site role. Remote work is not possible for this position.

What We Offer

  • A responsible role with real ownership in a global company with over 30 years of industry experience
  • A secure position in a modern, dynamic and continuously growing family-run company
  • A collaborative, open working culture — we pull in the same direction and celebrate our successes together
  • Room for your ideas: help shape the future of our brands and products
  • Support for further training and professional development
  • Daily contact with some of the world's most respected BMX brands
  • Attendance at BMX events worldwide — being close to the scene and the riders is part of how we work
  • A creative, hands-on working environment — surrounded by the products, the team and the culture every day
  • Staff discounts on our full product range: bicycles, components, sneakers and clothing
  • obrad — we support you with a company bike lease
  • Easy to reach by bike, car (free parking included), or public transport
  • Flexible working models — whether full-time or part-time, we find the right setup for you
