Son all packed up to go off to university today 🥲
My wife and other son are helping him move in. I’m holding the fort at home because I can’t fit in the car with all the stuff 😂
They’re also fitting in a cheeky Costco visit afterwards as well.
For me it’s the gym, bit of housework and maybe some tinkering with some tech!
Know when to fold ’em : Apple Thoughts
Well, the iPhone events have come and gone. I didn’t watch the event live this year, and I feel much better for it. Tech just isn’t doing it the same way as it was a couple of years ago. AI bubble, rising costs, as well as rising fascism in the tech space, it’s not as cosy and adventurous a hobby space as it was when I was sitting down on my G3 Pismo MacBook exploring a brand new MacOS X 1.0 that’s for sure.
I have however, caught up on the facts, let the dust settle, put the RC’s on all my current devices 1 and am ready to compose some thoughts and make some decisions.
Every 100th Of A Second #24 Reborn!
I’ll update the main Every 100th Of A Second landing page later once I’ve confirmed this pilot/reinvented episode does exactly what I want to. You can also read more there on what this series is about, but essentially it’s me highlighting photos I come across on the Fediverse that I like and inspire me.
Previously, I haven’t been able to embed photos onto the blog due to limitations within my blog hoster Pika, but recently that feature has been added, so lets go test this out! 👇
My life energy donated once again 🩸🧛
Donation 33 I believe 🫡
Couple of quick shots on the way into work this morning. 🌅
Review : Hijack Season 2
Stupid people do stupid things for stupid reasons and it all just fizzles out by the end.
An action show with no action.
A mystery box with no mystery.
A revenge plot with no revenge.
A thriller with no thrills.
I was hate watching it by the end… 👎
Stuff This Week #101
Happy Sunday! Sun is shining, I’m back from the gym. I’ve had a superior breakfast bap 1 and now I’m ready to get typin’! Here we goooooo
Review : Pluribus
Let’s get this out of the way up front. I’ve never seen a single episode of Breaking Bad (I know… I know… I’ll get to it… One day) . I’m a big fan of Gilligan’s work on the x-files however as I re-watch that series.
I really enjoyed this show. Once I started I binged it within a few days. If you don’t know the premise, I’d advise going into this one relatively cold and just going with the flow. It’s a Sci-Fi show but only for the conceit of its plot, which presents a soft apocalypse (Maybe…?) where only 12 people on earth are spared.
Stuff This Week #100 🥳
Wow, Can you believe I’ve written 100 of these silly things since starting to write online. If you read these little insights into my brain and day to day life then you have my thanks 😊
I probably should have put more effort into making something special. A retrospective perhaps? Maybe when we get to #200!
It was a long weekend this week with Monday as an extra day off so of course the weather forecast was for heavy rain and possible thunderstorms. (We were going to go berry picking😢) As I sit here Sunday afternoon writing this, we actually have proper sunshine again. Tomorrow is supposed to be better but unfortunately my wife is working the bank holiday.
Stuff This Week #99
The promised bad weather didn’t really materialise outside of a couple of hours of rain and we’re back to sunny days again for now. Another week that has flown past without much rest.
This shield bug sure is a thrill seeker seeing as he’s climbed an entire cactus 😳
Interrail Adventures : Day 2 : Saturday July 4th : 🇧🇪Brussels
Whilst our son got himself ready, my wife and I walked to a local bakery we spotted yesterday to get some pastries for breakfast. There’s a Belgian pastry called a cramique that we were practically drooling over the day before.
We couldn’t decide between the raisin and chocolate chip versions, so we just got both 😜
Regarding MacStories
I’m not going to continue to moan about my immense disappointment in Macstories or Federico. This is the last time I’ll post about it. I promise. After this I’m done.
Stuff This Week #98
As I write this the temperature is slightly lower than it has been and we’ve even got rain forecast for next week. Maybe an end to this constant heat is finally in sight. 🥵
🍝 Spaghetti all’assassina
After seeing Spaghetti All’Assasina cooked on the dish podcast we decided to give it a go for dinner this weekend.
It came out really well! Reasonably easy to use but not a dish you can just leave alone as you have to constantly ladle the water/tomato puree mix over as it cooks off over around 20 minutes. All the other bits were quite easy.
You’re supposed to burn some of the pasta purposely which I didn’t really do on this attempt. I think it’d be easier with a non-stick pan as all we got was the sauce sticking to the pan but not the spaghetti. Anyway, it was still delicious. A spicy tomato richness with the breadcrumbs. I couldn’t find ‘njuda sausage but we replaced it with Chorizo. For my pescatarian wife she just had the breadcrumb without any meat.
Think this one will be added to our family menus. Probably a bit more of a weekend indulgence than an in the week dish, but yeh, very delicious. Try it out!
A Relaxing Saturday Hike 🥾
Myself and my wife had some time to ourselves today with our eldest at work and our youngest at a music festival with friends overnight until tomorrow. That means after dropping him off at a friends house we had a day to do with as we wish! No pickups tonight, no pressing chores. Nothing. 👏👏👏
As we were out around Bridport anyway and the Jurassic Coast Road we decided we’d do a walk. My wife found the Cogden Circular on the National Trust website. After a bit of digging I found the Great Scenic Journeys site that actually gives you a downloadable GPX 1
This was short and simple enough that we could do it in this relentless heat. It felt good to get the walking boots on and get some dust under our feet.
Here’s my Eclipse Pictures 🌑
We had a wonderful evening. Went to a local field that wasn’t too busy and watched the universe unveil itself to us. With the lighting some of these photos came out much better than I thought they would 😊
Taken with a mix of camera.app and NoFusion. edited with photos.app and Photomator.
Stuff This (last two) Weeks #97
The past two weeks has flown by. So much so that this draft for one week is now a two week update. A whirlwind of work and familial obligations means we just haven’t had that much time to spare.
We did find some time the other evening to go for a swim at the beach however which is always a pleasure 😌
Exceptional food from the Three Horseshoes pub in Burton Bradstock. 😋
Great service as well. We had a wonderful time.
roasted lamb with mash, roasted carrot and beetroot.
Pavlova with berry compote and blackberry sorbet for dessert. 😊
