Say the answer out loud before they ask

Sixty to ninety seconds spoken, which is roughly 150 to 220 words. Below forty seconds you sound thin. Past two minutes the interviewer stops tracking. Failure and conflict answers can run closer to two minutes because they need more setup.

Prefer not to, but it beats inventing one. If you have to reuse it, flag it out loud and then genuinely tell a different part of it. In a multi round loop the interviewers compare notes afterwards, so a repeat is noticed.

Ask for a moment, then use the closest adjacent story and say so: the nearest example I have is a supplier disagreement rather than a client one, but it went the same way. Interviewers accept an honest bridge. They do not accept an invented example, because two follow up questions expose it.

Six to eight flexible ones cover thirty or more questions. Three or four solid stories is a workable starting point, then build from there. You do not need one story per question, because most questions are the same competency in different words.

Keep short bullets on paper beside the camera. Do not read full sentences. Reading shows in your eye movement and flattens your voice, which is the most common complaint about recorded answers.

No. Write each story as five or six bullet points and generate the sentences live. A memorised paragraph has a flat rhythm that experienced interviewers pick up quickly, and it falls apart the moment someone interrupts with a follow up.

Record yourself on your phone answering cold, with a timer running, then play it back and find the second you lose the thread. That is the sentence to fix. Reading your notes again feels like progress and changes nothing.

Behavioral questions ask what you did: tell me about a time. Situational questions are hypothetical: what would you do if. Answer the first with one real past event and the second with your reasoning, anchored to a real example if you have one.
