How PlatformTrack reads the streaming map.
Streaming catalogs look uniform from the outside — one Netflix logo, one Disney+ logo — but the title list behind that logo varies sharply from country to country. A subscription that ships The Bear and Yellowstone in the United States might quietly skip both in Germany, Turkey or Saudi Arabia because of licensing splits.
PlatformTrack indexes that variance. For every (platform × country) pair we monitor, the catalog count, movie/series split and a popularity-ranked sample of titles are recorded weekly. The pairs roll up into two leaderboards: countries ranked by how much streaming content they actually receive, and platforms ranked by how many markets they reliably serve.
The numbers come straight from TMDB’s public watch-provider feed — no scraping, no estimation. Each weekly run snapshots the figures, so a country page eventually shows whether Disney+ Turkey grew or shrank quarter over quarter.
Frequently asked
What does PlatformTrack track?
PlatformTrack monitors 17 streaming platforms across 57 countries, recording how many movies and series each platform carries in each market. The index is rebuilt weekly from TMDB.
Where does the data come from?
All catalog counts and watch-provider mappings come from TMDB’s public Watch Providers and Discover endpoints. PlatformTrack aggregates per (platform, country) and snapshots every sync so the historical trend remains visible.
How often is the catalog updated?
A full sync runs every Monday at 03:00 UTC. Each pair (platform × country) is re-queried and the snapshot table records the new totals, so you can compare current versus prior months.
How are exclusives counted?
A title is marked exclusive when, within a single country, it appears in only one platform’s top-popularity sample. Exclusivity is recomputed at every sync.
Can I access this data programmatically?
Yes — the underlying availability data is available via the StreamWatchHub API on RapidAPI, which exposes real-time watch-provider lookups and bulk endpoints.
Is PlatformTrack a streaming service?
No — PlatformTrack is a reference index. It does not stream content. It tells you which platform carries which catalog in your market so you can make a sane subscription decision or a region comparison.
