This article describes a feature available to all customers on DocSend.

Add videos to your documents or PowerPoint presentations to create a more engaging viewing experience.

In DocSend, you can include videos by:

  • Linking to videos using platforms like YouTube or Vimeo
  • Embedding videos directly in PowerPoint files

When a visitor interacts with a video, you can track engagement through In-Document Link Clicks. View the visitor experience.

Add videos as hyperlinks

You can add videos to your document by linking to a video URL using platforms like YouTube or Vimeo. These videos will play within the DocSend document viewer when supported.

You can also embed a video file directly into your PowerPoint presentation.

Note: Link your video to an image or screenshot to create a clear preview.

Important: If a video opens outside the document viewer, it may have privacy or embedding settings that prevent playback on third-party sites. Disable these settings to enable playback within the document viewer.

To add hyperlinked videos as screenshots:

  1. Take a screenshot of your video.
  2. Add the screenshot as an image to your document.
  3. Add the video URL as a hyperlink to the image.
  4. Save and upload the document.

Add embedded videos (PowerPoint)

If you upload a PowerPoint file with embedded video content, supported video formats will play directly within the slide.

Supported formats:

  • .m4v
  • .mov
  • .mp4
  • .webm

Limitations for embedded videos

  • Embedded videos are not supported when watermarks are enabled.
  • PowerPoint files uploaded before March 18, 2025 do not support in-slide video playback.

Track video engagement

Monitor video engagement data and statistics tracked in the page as In-document link clicks.

You can view:

  • The page within the document that was viewed.
  • The video URL that was accessed.
  • Details of visitors who viewed the video.

To do so:

  1. Go to the Recent activity page.
  2. Open a visit record.
  3. Click Visit details.

Additional considerations

  • Videos from platforms such as Wistia, JW Player, Brightcove, and Vidyard will open in a new browser tab instead of playing in the document viewer.
  • Video files like mp4s, can also be uploaded and shared directly using the DocSend video player.
