As you can see I wrapped up the Demon Hunter Class Hall quest line last night. All in all it was a pretty good story and while I never had a real sense of how close the finish line was, it never felt like a slog. And that’s a good thing.
What remains is the Breaching The Tomb achievement needed to get the class mount (and the mounts of other class halls I’ll be completing in the future). I think I’ll get there. For now, I’ll probably focus on the Death Knight and Warrior halls and when I’m time locked to certain moments I will hop back on Khisasi and get some of it done.
For Gnomeregan! (Armor Anyway)
The Junior Amateur has been working on getting a number of his characters to level 50 so as to unlock the various racial Heritage Armor sets. While we were talking about it, I realized I never went and got the Gnome set – despite having a level 80 Warrior. Well, we know what that means: off I go to Stormwind Embassy to start the quest. Google tells me I need to find this Ace Pilot fella. I hunt high and low for him, but he is nowhere to be found. Well, maybe he is inside the embassy. No. Instead, there’s a PANDAREN with the quest for me.
I have no words.
Alright, take the quest and whistle off to New Tinkertown where I learn I’m going to become a G.E.A.R. or Gnomish Elite Air Ranger. I’ll give points, that’s clever. After a quick trek into Gnomeregan it was off to Borean Tundra before Storm Peaks and a quest called Operation: Troggaggedon that required I crank “Danger Zone” in the background. After that it was into the Halls of Lightning and a showdown with someone we thought dead from the past.
All in all it was a pretty good questline. It definitely felt Gnomish from start to finish, didn’t overstay itself, and in the end the armor set is actually quite appealing.
The Slayer’s Road Continues…With Company
I’ve continued to plug away at the Demon Hunter Class Hall questing. I finally managed to get through all the required Class Hall follower quests (I hope). While I had time today I got as far as needing to complete 10 World Quests, which I was able to do relatively quickly. That left me with a quest to obtain Souls from dungeons, which I have no doubt are boss souls. In the meantime, I decided to also work on two other Halls as I went along. Specifically I’ve taken Fireflint into the Death Knight one and Hartley into the Warrior Hall…which I think I did some of with Semblance, but definitely didn’t do more with her than just get the weapons. As it stands, I’m mostly working on the other two and when I can’t progress either of them, that’s when I do the Warrior content.
So far I’m happy with what all three have to offer. The Warrior is obviously Norse inspired, which is always fun. I’ve talked about the Demon Hunter content already, and I continue to enjoy what it has to offer. It’s mostly Legion and that’s quite alright. But out of the three, it’s the Death Knight I’ve enjoyed the most. I knew the Lich King was involved in your hall but I didn’t know you’re sent out to gather the four horsemen. That’s pretty cool. So far I have two, though I have the last Fallen Steed follower quest to complete before that story continues further. I will say, the Undercity quest alongside Thassarian was a bit frustrating. Getting one-shot by an Undercity bat was one thing – I get that. But spawning all the way up by Scarlet Monastery was pretty frustrating, given there is a Spirit in the fields of Lordaeron.
I thought I was being smart coming back to my corpse. With Thassarian, you enter through the old sewers (which I had to have Tirisfal Glades turned back in time before I could do). Well, where I did it was much quicker going through the front area and into Undercity. But guess what? Going that direction wouldn’t let me resurrect. I had to go through the sewer to be able to continue the story, which included being able to resurrect myself. After that it was a breeze, though. But that little ordeal was frustrating to say the least.
Sin’dorei On The Slayer’s Road
It was Demon Hunter central in Amateur Land last night and today. I had decided it was time to go through the Class Hall with Khisasi to see what the story was all about and to gain the title as well. I was making a lot of progress until I had the Field Mission: Back In Black. I had to kill 30 minutes. Well, conveniently enough while running the Demon Hunter questline I hit level 50. That meant the attention of Lor’themar and the Blood Elf Heritage Armor. One Burning Crusade portal later I was in Silvermoon City.
I have to say, the Sin’dorei questline was a lot of fun. Yes, I will have personal bias because it was essentially a history lesson – and one that involved Sylvanas, as well as her death at the hands of Arthas. It wasn’t anything new, but it was very cool to go through that phase in WoW itself. The Isle of Quel’danas has always been one of my favourite hubs, so going back there just added to the nostalgia and joy. If there was a negative, it was having to go to the far end of each zone – including my one death. It didn’t make me miss the corpse runs of old in the slightest. The armor itself is about what I expected. I almost feel the need to roll another Blood Elf just to put it to use, as it doesn’t scream a look my Demon Hunter desires.
Sure enough, though, the Back In Black quest was finished and ready by the time I had completed the Sin’dorei line. So back to the Fel Hammer for Khisasi before she was teleported off to the Black Temple. It was an interesting turn of events, fighting with the Illidari against Akama. I also felt really bad for him when they split his Shade from him again. After that was the tedious task of doing each “Working With The Wardens” missions on the Scouting Map. Send the followers out, wait an hour…repeat.
Once those follower quests were done, it was push hard along the story. I did enjoy where the roles were reversed and it was a warden imprisoned that I had to save. And going back into the Vault of the Wardens was a nice full circle moment for the Demon Hunter class. Unfortunately I quested all the way to needing to do the series of Preparations For Invasion. And unfortunately because I haven’t done any other follower missions, my group isn’t high enough level. So I guess we’ll be working on that for the next little while.
One Legendary Teases, One Antagonizes
Heading into Ulduar this week I was needing just two Fragments of Val’anyr. Excited for my next potential Legendary (I’ve not looked ahead to see if I need to do anything after combining the fragments), off I went. None dropped from any of the bosses before the Antechamber. No surprise there, as I don’t think I’ve had a single one drop from those guys over these past several weeks. Then Kologarn. Nothing. Auriaya? None from her. Hodir? Thorim? Freya??? Not a single fragment. Mimiron didn’t give me one either. The General was no different. But Yogg-Saron? As someone who messes with your mind, it was only right that he dropped a shard, leaving me A SINGLE FRAGMENT from completing it. Not since the first fragment dropped have I had a run with only one fragment dropping. A bit of a cold reminder of how the RNG can be sometimes.
After that it was time for Siori to head to Dragon Soul, with this hopefully being her last run through the dungeon. She went into it needing 12 Shadowy Gems. After Warlord Zon’ozz and Morchok I was one shy. A Yor’sahj kill later and it was done. Off to Ravenholdt Manor once more, then down by Karazhan, then to the Manor a second time. Then back to Dragon Soul for…60 Gem Clusters? Oof. Okay then. Fortunately I did still have a few bosses to kill for the Clusters. But, looks like a few more months of Dragon Soul…
An Unexpected 80
Logard, the Raptor King
Dinged 80 on my Orc Hunter today. It’s funny, out of all my toons of low level (not to mention the sheer number of Hunters I have), I was in no rush to level him. Since Survival was changed to melee all those years ago, I more or less avoided playing him. So I saw him sitting there at level 18 and finally decided to put some time into him, just to see what Survival felt like.
Liouxpold has always been my leading Hunter. However at the moment he’s just sitting at 63. I’m just not feeling Beast Master. It could just be because I haven’t quite learned how to execute it properly, and I do plan to look into that. But having said that, Survival has been a lot of fun! I mean, obviously, or Logard wouldn’t be sitting at 80 now, and my 7th character and class to hit the pre-Midnight cap. It’s a lot like the Mage class it seems. I wasn’t feeling my tried and true Frost Mage coming back, but I dipped into Fire and loved it.
With Logard, I went Pack Leader. But Sentinel is over there staring at me just the same, so I can see me getting another Survival Hunter levelled at some point. But for now, I might just focus on getting Logard more raptors – mounts and pets. After all, he is the Raptor King. That comes from when he was rolled waaaaaaayyyyyyy back in the day. So far back, Livejournal was a hopping place and he was in a guild called Spontaneous Vagabonds, which was a guild created from the wow-ladies LJ group. If memory serves, I was the only male player and character in the guild. I think they dubbed me the man-slave or man-whore, I don’t exactly remember. I know we shared a lot of laughs about it. But now look how far he’s come, the only active member of the roster for over a decade.

Magmalynn – Armed And Dangerous
One of my newest Hunters, and my Dark Iron Dwarf, is Magmalynn. She was the reason I was debating getting the Red Flame Burner back in June. And I did. But that was just the beginning as I’ve been waiting for the Hateforged Blazecycle to hit the Trading Post. And yesterday it did. I wasted no time today collecting my Trading Tenders for the month, which I’m starting to have a decent amount of…particularly as the Cycle and the Prowler’s Snowy Shoulder Cape were the only items I purchased this month.
Gun in hand, mount at the ready. Now it was time to look the part completely.
