We are reaching the point where it becomes difficult to write introductory texts, since I have done so many of the Planeswalker Decks by the time this article comes out. And honestly, this deck features Jace so it is definitely on the blander side; at least when it comes to characters. Granted, Planeswalker Deck “Jace, Arcane Strategist” tries to be a bit more interesting by going in a Blue-Green direction and trying to make the most out of counters in combination with proliferate, so there is more than the usual mono-Blue monotony that I expect from Jace. So, without further ado, let us see what this deck brings to the table.

War of the Spark was a rather underwhelming set for plenty of reasons. The introduction of non-Rare planeswalkers was cool, but was about it for what I found positive, with constant revisits to Ravnica becoming stale while the entire Nicol Bolas doing evil things lore certainly straining the patience of players. However, that is neither here nor there when it comes to Planeswalker Decks released during that time, which can still be alright from a quality standpoint as far as I am concerned. Planeswalker Deck “Gideon, the Oathsworn” goes in an interesting direction being White-Black and while the deck has its faults there is certainly potential here; as you are about to see in the article below.

Ravnica Allegiance is currently my focus in terms of Preconstructed Decks, and the Planeswalker Deck “Domri, City Smasher” was the last of the Planeswalker Decks I took a look at; and I crowned it the worst Planeswalker Deck I have seen so far. Terrible creatures combined with pretty underwhelming spells made for an overall bad deck. But that is in the past: For today, I have the counteroffer in form of the White-Blue Planeswalker Deck “Dovin, Architect of Law”. I expect some solid Control gameplay and definitely want to see a deck that brings more to the table than the lukewarm Aggro offering I was given before. Here is what the deck can do:

I love me some good old Red-Green Aggro. There is a beauty to the simplicity that is playing big creatures on curve and winning the game with brawn while the opponent struggles to get your monsters under control. Now, I am not opposed to some Control-heavy deck – and we will see that part when I get to the counterpart of this deck – but Red-Green Stompy can be good fun. And let’s be honest, the Gruul guild represents all that is great about the color combination, with big stats, lots of burn and destruction effects, paired with stat boosting and Trample. And some of those aspects will be featured in the deck at hand, Planeswalker Deck “Domri, City Smasher”; it just remains to be seen how effective the entire package can be when presented in a Preconstructed Deck format with a Planeswalker as its major focus.

Ah, a Black-Green deck, my favorite color combination in Magic the Gathering. I am not a fan of Vraska in particular, but seeing as I would decide against playing planeswalkers as a card type in general that is probably not saying much. But there is potential for the usual Golgari goodness: Helpful, multi-purpose removal, paired with creatures that come with death triggers and work with the graveyard as a secondary deck, I can tell you that this could be good. Now, I normally write the introduction as the last part of the article, so I know what lurks in the Planeswalker Deck “Vraska, Regal Gorgon”, but before I spoiler anything here I can only invite you to the article below and quite a journey in terms of cardboard quality.
