Hello! I’m Dan, and I’m all of those things listed above. Currently, I dedicate my time to working across Gamecrafters Collective, Big Boss Battle (B3) and gawking at the masses of unpainted miniatures on my shelves. I’ve been a published games journalist for nearly two years, a games designer for double that and an international man of mystery for 24.
Psyche was a three month long collaborative project that I worked on from June 2024 to September 2024 and it serves as the culmination of my studies during my postgraduate qualification. Myself and the team created a short vertical slice of a larger game pitch that I and another peer co-created, with the demo ultimately being made available to the public at the end of the project’s development cycle.
I wrote every single line of dialogue present in the project, as well as any supporting documentation and technical feature specification that were required for my programmer and designer. I wrote four distinctive characters, each with their own dialogue trees, unique responses and journeys that unravel throughout the demo.
You can see more of Psyche on YouTube!

Bridging Worlds is a 3D Adventure game that focuses on the Sámi people and their unique cultural practice of herding reindeer.
I was brought on to this project to take charge of important research pertaining to pretty much anything Sámi related, which was a great honour for me. As well as this, I am the sole lead of Narrative Direction for the game, liaising with the 2D Artists to script important elements of the game,

Spare Parts is a short and sweet interactive narrative game that tells the story of a robot that has forgotten his purpose. I aimed to tell a story that could be read by a younger audience, carrying something of an inspiring message for them.
I challenged myself to write this game in the context of it being something of a storybook that might be read to a child before bed, therefore I created characters and a narrative that one, is simple to grasp and two, is suitable for that target audience. I also undertook all of the artistic responsibilities for the project, keeping the visuals simple and visually appealing.

Chaotic Courtroom! was my first tabletop project, being developed over a period of 6 months. Taking it all the way from conceptualisation through to active development and all the way to a published release in partnership with Canterbury Christchurch University, this project helped shape my focus and pushed me towards physical game development and production.
Highlights and milestones of this project include:
– Demonstrating to members of the public at Insomnia Gaming Festival.
– Showcasing and presenting to publishers and board game independents at the UK Games Expo.
– Liaising with production industry representatives and manufacturing distributors for physical game production.
