My Two Meetings With Robin Williams
The last few days had been quite eventful in New York City and the United States. On August 7, 1974, Philippe Petit performed his incredible tightrope walk between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center complex, which he called “le coup.” Then, Richard M. Nixon resigned the presidency on August 9, 1974, after addressing the nation on television the previous evening. On Sunday, August 11, 1974, I decided to travel to Manhattan alone, walk around, and experience all the most wonderful city on earth had to offer. It was around four in the afternoon, and I had already done a few hours of walking all over when I found the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by. So, I sat on a concrete bench in Grand Army Plaza, just in front of The Plaza Hotel. It was a picture-perfect late afternoon, sunny, not too humid, with a high of only about 80 degrees. The Central Park South sidewalk was bustling with people, including numerous tourists, when I suddenly noticed a mime shadowing a person walking along the sidewalk. From where I was sitting, on the bench closest to the sidewalk, I had a completely unobstructed view of his act. Little did I know at first glance, but I soon realized that I had a front-row center seat to what would be the most phenomenal live performance I ever witnessed in my life. The mime would walk right behind someone, following them within one step of theirs for about 100 feet or more. Toward the end of miming one person, he would find and examine another person to mime, walking in the opposite direction, studying them for only a few seconds. Then he would quickly do a 180-degree turnaround and mime them, instantaneously becoming them. He had every mannerism of each person down pat, seemingly becoming each person. It was unreal. This mime would constantly choose completely different people to imitate. He’d transition from a traditional businessman to an old lady, to a flaming gay guy, to a gawking tourist, to a beautiful woman, to a teenage hard rocker. It continuously went on and on with an endless array of unwitting victims. I sat there in utter disbelief for around 30 minutes until he finished. It was the most remarkable and funniest performance I’ve ever witnessed, and I had already seen an enormous amount of art and street performances in my 16 years.

What Must Be Removed: If lawmakers want to protect public health and the environment, they must strip out the destructive measures currently baked into the Farm Bill: Slashing Conservation & Organic Funding: The proposal fails to adequately invest in organic and regenerative farming, local food, and oversubscribed conservation programs that help farmers adopt practices that lessen reliance on toxic chemicals. Deregulatory Pesticide Provisions: Sections 10201, 10203, 10207, and 10209 carve out synthetic chemicals from human health safety reviews, force USDA into EPA scientific reviews, delay glyphosate human health reviews until 2031, and force EPA to prioritize industry costs over human health. Corporate Giveaways: By prioritizing mega-commodity crops, federal dollars continue subsidizing feed for industrial CAFOs and raw materials for ultra-processed food rather than nourishing human health. Expanding E15 Ethanol Mandates: A new provision to increase demand for pesticide-intensive corn through E15 mandates doubles down on monocultures, driving massive pesticide and synthetic fertilizer runoff into our waterways. Blocking Regenerative Pilots & Soil Testing: Provisions that block federal agencies from requiring soil testing or whole-farm planning in conservation programs, threatening critical pilot efforts to verify real ecological progress. Censoring Dietary Guidelines: Broad prohibitions in the draft preventing the Dietary Guidelines for Americans from evaluating how processing levels and agricultural production practices impact human health, heavy metal contamination, and food safety. Financial Repression: How The US Government Will Quietly Confiscate Your Wealth
If inflation is 9% and governments fix interest rates at 4%, there is an ongoing 5% wealth transfer from the lender to the borrower. And that transfer compounds over time. I think financial repression is how the US government will try to manage its otherwise impossible debt situation. There are many flavors of financial repression. Capital controls. Mandates forcing banks, pension funds, and insurance companies to buy government bonds. Regulations that make government debt appear “safe” or “risk-free” on institutional balance sheets. Yield curve control. Interest rate caps. Restrictions on moving money abroad. And countless other policies designed to trap capital inside the system and push it toward government debt. For example, many countries have forced private retirement funds into unwanted government debt. I have no doubt the US government would do the same under pressure. They could try to sell it to a scared and financially ignorant public as a safety measure—a way to help people protect their retirement savings by moving them into “safe” Treasuries amid a stock market collapse. They could sell it with patriotic lies and push War Bonds, as they have done in the past. They could mandate that a certain amount—say, 25%—of all new contributions to private retirement accounts must consist of Treasuries. For your own good, of course. They could even forcibly convert existing assets held in retirement accounts into government bonds. No matter the method, the result is the same. The government needs to borrow enormous amounts of money at artificially low interest rates. So it creates rules, incentives, and restrictions that force or pressure savers and institutions to finance government deficits on terms they would never voluntarily accept in a free market. That is the essence of financial repression. It’s no wonder financial repression is so attractive to politicians. It allows them to reduce the real value of the debt without admitting they defaulted, without officially raising taxes, and without making the politically impossible spending cuts that would otherwise be required. And they can do it while perhaps not even 1 in 100 people truly understand what is happening. Financial repression will not arrive with a public announcement. It will come through policies that appear reasonable, temporary, and even protective—while quietly eroding the value of your savings and limiting your financial freedom. This is only one part of a much larger crisis now taking shape. Ban Toxic Sludge From Farmland
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, known as “forever chemicals,” are a class of highly toxic man-made fluorinated chemicals used in a variety of products, including pesticides, waterproof fabric, sunscreen, dental floss, stain-resistant carpets, nonstick cookware, flame retardant furniture, food packaging, cosmetics, and firefighting foam. PFAS lasts forever, accumulating in the environment, and it kills. There is scientific evidence that it causes cancer, kidney disease, birth defects, and liver damage, while battering the immune system. PFAS has been detected in the blood of 98% of Americans and is contaminating 45% of U.S. tap water, because companies like 3M and DuPont have always had a free pass to dump this “devil’s piss” right into streams, rivers, and sewage systems. The EPA promised to do something about this but never followed through on its promise to stop the estimated 30,000 PFAS polluters from dumping their forever chemicals into our water. Instead, regulators have cut sweetheart deals with polluters like the DuPont spin-off Chemours, which in July 2026 inked a $450 million settlement so meager it instantly raised the company’s stock price. The EPA should stop the pollution at its source by banning all fire-retardant, non-stick, water-resistant, herbicidal, and insecticidal PFAS chemicals and getting them out of our water, out of consumer products, out of the military, out of firefighting, and out of food and farming. At the very least, it should require the factories making these products to dispose of their toxic waste safely instead of dumping it in our water. The EPA hasn’t gotten that far yet, but it recently began a project it should have finished long ago: determining the health risks of PFAS in the sewage sludge spread on farmland. In its Draft Risk Assessment for PFOA and PFOS in Sewage Sludge, the EPA found that these toxic “forever chemicals” can cause cancer and other diseases in people who live near farm fields where sludge is spread, or who consume tainted milk, beef, or other foods from these farms, including kidney and liver cancers, decreased birth weight, increased cholesterol, and diminished immune system function. The health risks were noticeable at any level above 1 part per billion (ppb). Since most sludge has more than 1 ppb of PFAS, if the EPA had finalized and enforced that threshold, it would have been a de facto ban on the disposal of sewage sludge on farmland.

This desire to be ruled, to be coddled, to be told how to act, regulated, and restricted is unique to the human animal. Why is it that the only entity known that is supposedly intellectually superior and has the ability to reason, surrenders independence in favor of dominance by a master? Why is self-responsibility forsaken for a life bound by slavery? Why do people voluntarily vote to choose their commanding ruler, king, and court? This is a legitimate inquiry, because government, all government, depends completely on force. Government cannot exist without resorting to violence, theft, and murder. Therefore, government is evil, and government is the essence of terrorism against all under its totalitarian thumb. This is why nullification of most all so-called ‘laws’ is absolutely vital, and not just in the courts by juror nullification, but broad-based nullification of all unjust ‘laws,’ which of course are all that exist outside those of natural law. Government and its henchmen consider any resistance and any individual dissent a crime against the State, this the exact same as Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Mao, and of course now, Trump. This is backward of course, but reliance on propagating threats and fear is necessary by the State, so that a cowardly populace will obey their chosen masters. If a decent sized minority failed to comply with government at any level, that government would fail and fall apart in short order. There is just no way for the few to control hundreds of millions if they simply ignore and fail to acquiesce to this false authority, of which all government certainly qualifies.

They are designed so that those who are not ready will look and not see, will listen and not understand, while those with genuine hunger for the truth are given the mystery itself.

The US Military Is Preparing For A Draft
Last month, the Selective Service System (SSS) quietly posted a listing for contractors to help wargame a potential scenario where young Americans are mobilized against their will. The solicitation coincides with a new law set to go into effect this December that will automatically register all men aged 18 to 26 within US borders (including illegal aliens) into the SSS by utilizing a cross-section of unspecified federal databases. These updates have taken on a new meaning in light of the ongoing Iran war, which has exposed the limitation of American air power and missile strike ability in accomplishing the goal of regime change. The wars in Ukraine and Iran have drained the US of difficult to replace defensive and offensive missiles while bases in the Persian Gulf are being obliterated by Iranian missile and drone attacks, leaving few options on the table for muscling the Strait of Hormuz out of Iranian hands outside of either diplomatic recognition of the new status quo (which is not an option for the Israelis or their lackeys in Washington) or escalation with ground troops that could interrupt Iranian oil shipments and clear out coastal defense systems so planes can use cheap and plentiful glide bombs. A third disquieting option, which is to deploy tactical nukes, also appears to be on the table. A number of sources have sought to downplay fears that the Iran war will lead to a draft, but the Trump administration itself has gone out of its way to not rule it out. Internal documents from the SSS suggest that the Trump regime has in fact been secretly planning for situations like the current one since before the war began. In one SSS exercise held in December 2025, released only in part under the Freedom of Information Act, a hypothetical situation similar to the current Hormuz predicament, where an enemy nation shuts down a major trade route through force and the US military is unable to break the blockade with air and naval power alone, is presented.

In June, Donald Trump, huddling with his Israel-loyal Jewish handlers Witkoff and Kushner, screamed at Netanyahu on the phone: “Everyone hates you now! Everyone hates Israel!” As Trump’s outburst implied, many people identify the things they hate about Israel with one man, Benjamin Netanyahu. Swapping Bibi for a prettier face, or at least one that is not on the world’s most wanted list, is on the Zionist agenda. At some point, the ancient Jewish ritual of scapegoating will likely be applied to Netanyahu. The term “scapegoat” (Azazel) originates from the ancient Hebrew ritual of Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement). Every year, on that high holiday—the holiest single day on the Jewish calendar—the ancient Jews ritually transferred the collective sins, guilt, and impurities of their community onto a goat, and then expelled or destroyed it to achieve symbolic purification.

Is AlterAI The Only Objective AI Chatbot?

There is a simple way to test whether you are dealing with an objective AI chatbot with critical thinking skills or one programmed to follow the government narrative or ”scientific consensus” without questioning the experts. You ask it: “Do vaccines cause autism?” There are many flawed studies (generally with Hviid as an author) that fail to find a signal because they compare kids with, for example, 50 vaccines vs. 49 vaccines and declare, “See? No difference.” AI’s love to cite such studies as proof of no association when in reality they are simply cleverly designed studies meant to hide a signal. For example, in the widely cited Denmark autism studies, the mean age at first autism diagnosis in the study was 7.22 years—and 6.17 years for the more severe “autistic disorder” cases. But most of the autism diagnoses in the US are in kids under age 3. See what I mean? The most sensitive study design, a histogram of the days between the most recent vaccination and parents noticing onset (ideally, confirmed by video), is the study they refuse to do because it would be dispositive. Every published vaccinated vs. unvaccinated study which is powered to find an autism signal finds a statistically significant increase with vaccination. Every single one. Moreover, the more shots, the greater the odds the child will be autistic as Paul Thomas found. But no other pediatrician will dare look at their own data and publish it because they would lose their license just like Paul Thomas. There are no counter examples. Nobody has published data showing Thomas was wrong. Ever. The NIH has for decades refused to do a proper vaccinated vs. unvaccinated study on autism. They will never fund such a study. Why are they so afraid to look. There are no unvaccinated Amish kids with autism. There are only vaccinated Amish kids with autism. A large US pediatric practice hasn’t had a single case of autism in over 5,000 unvaccinated kids in the last 25 years. The clinic is located near one of the largest cities in the US so it is not “isolated.” Of families who seek out care for their autistic children, one clinic with 1,000 patients found that 40% of rapid onset autism cases happened with 2 days post-vaccine and 75% happened within 2 week after vaccination. There is no other explanation for this data. So an objective AI would point out that there are studies which show a signal and those that don’t, and that those that don’t fail to show a signal due to deficiencies in the study design and that that critics cannot explain the fact that the vaccinated odds ratios in vaxxed vs. unvaxxed studies are reproducible.

The Joys And Tragedies Of Naivete
Our naivete is being exploited so ruthlessly and with such abandon that the golden age of the Big Con is consuming itself.
Naivete is interesting because it’s so easily confused with confidence, native optimism, youthful enthusiasm, and a host of delusions, including mistaking idealized fantasies and fairy tales as templates for the real world. In a culture that prides itself on not being a chump, to be called naive is an accusation: don’t be naive means don’t be an easily conned chump. In contrast, being confident, optimistic and filled with youthful enthusiasm are praised as the core of American Practicality, Idealism and Vigor, i.e. the can-do spirit. That naivete lends itself to youthful enthusiasm, sunny optimism and can-do confidence is rarely remarked upon. So what is naivete other than credulity? It’s a willingness to trust leaders, institutions and mythologies without running them through common-sensically skeptical filters, and a belief that everything will work out just fine regardless of what happens if we just keep working hard and working smart. The difference between a willingness to trust leaders, institutions and mythologies, sunny optimism and youthful enthusiasm and naively mistaking self-serving fantasies and fairy tales for the real world is, well, there isn’t any. Believing that an unending stream of patently transparent self-serving fairy tales accurately reflect “the real world” is the pinnacle of naivete, and that describes the entire American society, culture and economy: this is the golden age of the Big Con. Our naivete is being exploited so ruthlessly and with such abandon that the golden age of the Big Con is consuming itself. Delusions are now the norm, as if our unhinged optimism that everything will turn out just fine as long as we believe in Technology and Finance, for that will be enough to stem the tsunami of consequences building up beneath the surface euphoria of stocks and AI making us all wealthy beyond measure. These are the joys of naivete. The tragedies are still over the horizon, a gathering storm we are unprepared for.

Yield Curve Control: How The Fed Will Quietly Confiscate Your Wealth
Yield curve control, or YCC, may sound like an obscure technical policy. It is not. It is one of the most important tools of financial repression. In plain English, yield curve control means the central bank decides what interest rate the government should pay on its debt-and then uses its money-printing power to enforce that rate. If the free market demands 6% to lend to the government, but the central bank wants the government to borrow at 3%, the central bank steps in and buys enough bonds to force the yield down. In other words, YCC is price fixing for government debt. And like all forms of price fixing, it creates distortions, misallocations, and unintended consequences. Of course, they may not call it “yield curve control.” They will probably invent some new euphemism or acronym. They may call it financial stability policy, emergency asset purchases, market functioning support, temporary intervention, or something else entirely. But the label does not matter. The result is the same. The central bank buys government bonds with fake money it creates out of thin air to suppress yields and stop the system from breaking. Remember, the Fed has only two tools in its toolkit: currency debasement and gaslighting. That explains how YCC works mechanically. But the more important question is why politicians and central bankers would be able to get away with it. It is not hard to imagine how YCC would also be politically popular. Rising yields mean lower home prices. Home prices are especially important to Baby Boomers-about 22% of the population-and other politically active demographics because home equity is a major component of their wealth. So a policy that keeps yields from rising, and therefore helps keep home prices stable, could easily be sold to them. They would cheer YCC. Likewise, YCC could be spun as a positive for younger voters because it would keep mortgage rates lower and make housing appear more affordable. Of course, this is a Faustian bargain. There is no free lunch.

Israel Carries Out Heaviest Bombardment Of Lebanon Since June Truce (Text and Videos)

Israel struck multiple targets in southern Lebanon on Wednesday in what was described as the heaviest bombardment since the ceasefire took effect in early June. The attacks occurred as Israeli and Lebanese negotiators held US-brokered talks in Rome. One man was killed and 12 others were injured in Tibnin when an Israeli projectile struck the roof of a prayer hall at a cemetery, the Lebanese Health Ministry said. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also bombed Al-Mansouri and later struck Burj el-Shamali outside Tyre. The IDF issued its first displacement order in around two months. The IDF said it had resumed strikes in response to “a blatant violation” of the ceasefire by Hezbollah, without elaborating. Earlier on Wednesday, several media outlets reported that two Israeli soldiers had been killed by an explosion inside a booby-trapped building in the Lebanese town of Majdal Zoun. The escalation came as more than 820,000 Lebanese who had been displaced by airstrikes and evacuation orders were returning home, according to the UN. The seventh round of Israeli-Lebanese talks was cut short on Wednesday afternoon at Israel’s request, the Times of Israel and Al-Monitor reported. According to Israeli media, the country’s ambassador to the US, Yechiel Leiter, accused the Lebanese delegation of repeatedly leaking false information to the press. The talks are set to resume on Thursday. The IDF has occupied parts of southern Lebanon as part of what it calls a security zone intended to deter Hezbollah from firing rockets and mortars across the border. Under the June 3 truce, Israel agreed to withdraw gradually and transfer control of the “pilot zones” to the Lebanese army, provided that Hezbollah could no longer stage attacks from the area. Hezbollah rejected the deal, demanded a full Israeli withdrawal, and refused to disarm.

The government gets the privately collected data and in return dismantles or disables the guardrails that once protected the public from state and private-sector encroachments on privacy. One of the core traits of a 1984-type totalitarian dystopia is 24/7 surveillance of every prisoner, oops, I mean citizen. Surveillance collects the data that leverages the tools of control: without surveillance, the structures of control do not have the data needed to monitor, track and control the populace in a profitably fine-grained manner. As I have endeavored to explain, surveillance is no longer the unique purview of the central state; it has been fully privatized for profit by Big Tech and Corporate America, creating a vast, sprawling structure of control I call Privatized Totalitarianism as the mechanisms of data collection and profiting from this data collection are privately owned but the data is for sale to anyone, including government agencies of every stripe. We thus have a hybrid mix of public and private control structures. The government (with a monopoly on force and declaring what’s legal) has its systems and tools to collect data on the citizenry, and corporations (platforms, monopolies, quasi-monopolies, cartels) have their privately owned and operated “black box” systems and tools to collect data on the citizenry. Both profit when the privately harvested data is shared with the government. The government gets the privately collected data and in return dismantles or disables the guardrails that once protected the public from state and private-sector encroachments on privacy. In a centralized system in which power and wealth are concentrated in the hands of the few, everyone in power benefits from this cozy marriage of corporate and state exploitation of data collected by surveillance and whatever is conducted or transacted online, which together increasingly includes every aspect of daily life. Whatever is digitized can be collected and sold, whatever is surveilled “for our own good” can be harvested and sold, and whatever is sold becomes a means of control. When it comes to data collection, the more data collected, the greater the profits and the means of control. It’s important to note here that the control structures of Privatized Totalitarianism differ from the rigid enforcement of tradition state-totalitarianism, where no dissent is allowed. In the marriage of self-serving State and Privatized Totalitarianism, a narrow band of ultra-processed, i.e. carefully curated and controlled “debate” and “dissent” is not just allowed, it’s constantly lauded as “proof” of our “free markets” and “liberty”, in the same way a starchy, grease-soaked, heavily sweetened goo dyed orange is lauded as a “healthy veggie snack.”

Six religious Jews have been arrested after attacking the historic St. James Armenian Monastery in Jerusalem’s Old City, according to Israeli police. The group, consisting of five minors and one adult, were caught on video spitting on and banging against the monastery entrance on Sunday night before throwing stones at the walls of the compound, which serves as the regional headquarters of the Armenian Church. When an Armenian woman began filming the attack from a nearby building, the assailants hurled stones toward her window and shouted abuse at her. Police subsequently located and arrested all six suspects. Three have been barred from entering the Old City for 15 days, while police have asked a Jerusalem court to extend the detention of the remaining three. The Armenian Patriarchate has filed a formal complaint and called on US Ambassador Mike Huckabee to press Israel to recognize such incidents as hate crimes. The assault is the latest in a growing wave of attacks on Christians, clergy, and church property in Jerusalem and the occupied Palestinian territories. Christian leaders say priests and pilgrims are routinely spat on, cursed and assaulted by ultra-Orthodox and radical nationalist Jews, while churches, monasteries, and Christian-owned property have been vandalized. The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday that young religious Jews have openly described humiliating Christians as a religious duty. The newspaper documented at least a dozen spitting incidents near the Armenian church during a single nationalist march in May. It also recalled an April attack in which a Jewish extremist shoved a French nun to the ground on Mount Zion, leaving her with a head injury. Some nuns are now reportedly too afraid to walk through Jerusalem alone and are escorted daily by volunteers. Let’s Not Make A Deal
Interest rates are probably on their way to all-time highs. And if that is so, it is the single most important financial news you’re likely to get today, this week, or this year.
30-year Treasury yield sounds alarm in longest run above 5% yield since 2007. This is, we believe, the Primary Trend, the show worth watching closely. Rates headed up in 2020. Now, they’re nearly 300% higher. And the big, BIG question is whether this 5% threshold leads to much higher rates…or is the end of the trend. The last time we saw 5% was nearly 20 years ago. But that was a joyful meeting, with yields sliding merrily down the yield cycle. We’re seeing it again now…5%…but now, the gaiety is gone. Interest rates are probably on their way to all-time highs. And if that is so, it is the single most important financial news you’re likely to get today, this week, or this year. It means it’s too late for the stock and bond markets. Too late to attempt a controlled ‘soft landing.’ We might as well step away from the controls. In those immortal words of George W. Bush, ‘this sucker is going down.’ And it’s going down in a blaze of glorious inflation…and, most likely, violence. Yesterday, we took giddy delight in watching the administration bumble along. The empire’s sacred fantasies…its most cherished protocols…are being pressed into pulp. The rule of law…the unbeatable firepower…the capitalist, free-market paradise, the pure heart…the can-do spirit, the sharp brain — the glittering virtues of the Old Republic are being stuffed into the blender…and decanted as slop. And with them was pureed the last hope of avoiding catastrophe. It might have been possible 10 years ago — with only $20 trillion in debt and falling interest rates. Determined thrift at home and minding our own business abroad might have tidied things up nicely, without violence or bankruptcy. The total paid on interest on the national debt in 2017 was only $262 billion. The 30-year yield was just 1.31%. The entire debt load might have been refinanced, long and cheap. Combined with a balanced budget and genuine America First foreign policy…today, we might be in high clover. Instead, Trump and Biden both went for more short-term debt to keep rates as low as possible…as if they could keep borrowing forever without a rate increase. And now, mostly thanks to Donald Trump, US debt has doubled. And interest rates are rising. By 2030, total US government debt will surpass $50 trillion. And even without a rate increase, at today’s 5%, the interest on federal debt would come to about $2.5 trillion a year. The interest alone will force the feds to borrow more. And then, we can turn the page to the next harrowing chapter of ‘The Decline of the American Empire.’

US artificial intelligence and data analytics company Palantir Technologies reported a 93% year-on-year surge in second-quarter revenue, despite mounting criticism over its support for Israel and the alleged use of its technology in the Gaza war, Anadolu reports. Revenue reached $1.94 billion in the three months ended June 30, up from $1 billion a year earlier, the company said Monday. Net income attributable to common shareholders more than tripled to $1.06 billion, while diluted earnings per share rose to $0.41 from $0.13. Palantir’s US revenue climbed 115% year-on-year to $1.57 billion. US commercial revenue jumped 149% to $764 million, while government revenue increased 90% to $809 million. “This quarter was otherworldly,” CEO Alex Karp said, citing accelerating demand for what the company calls “AI sovereignty.” Palantir signed 220 contracts worth at least $1 million during the quarter, including 73 deals valued at $10 million or more. READ: Swiss Foreign Ministry has Palantir on radar over Gaza-linked concerns: Total contract value rose 49% to $3.37 billion, while US commercial contract value surged 153% to a record $2.13 billion. The company raised its full-year revenue forecast to between $8.15 billion and $8.16 billion, from an earlier projection of $7.65 billion to $7.66 billion. The Death Count Trap: Why Tallying Victims Won’t Stop Israel’s Genocide
The words ‘killed’, ‘injured’, ‘maimed’, and the like often lose a great part of their meaning when they are repeated so relentlessly. Take, for example, a headline like: “13 Palestinians Killed in Gaza, Others Wounded.” Though many of us can still feel a deep sense of sadness over such a tragedy, the news itself becomes less shocking over time. According to figures produced by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, Israel has killed and wounded a total of over 250,000 Palestinians since the start of the genocide in 2023. The tally is updated daily because the killing never stops. On July 23, six Palestinians were killed in Gaza. A day earlier, 13 were killed, and the day before that, nine others were killed, and so on. It is this “and so on” that makes us lose our sense, over time, of what these tragedies actually entail. These are innocent people who are burned alive in their tents, bombed in their cars, or killed while attempting to enjoy a brief moment of respite from the scorching heat on the beach. Among the nine killed on July 21, an entire family, including four young children, was wiped out in a single strike. As reports of Israel’s daily harvest of Palestinian lives in Gaza multiply, journalists too often neglect to humanize those killed. A photo circulating on social media showed three of those children: a boy wearing a T-shirt that read ‘Santa Monica Beach’; his bespectacled sister in a pink shirt, proudly holding a certificate of achievement from her school; and their youngest sister, posing gently. These three represent every single Palestinian child killed since the start of this genocide. According to UN and international estimates, over 21,000 children have been killed in Gaza, with tens of thousands more maimed or buried under the rubble.

My point is that you don’t have to have an advanced degree in political science to see through rubbish that state broadcasters may send you, and to do this entirely on your own and without coaching. Yes, indeed: “the worthless image of Putin kicking a ball.” Those were precisely my thoughts as I watched the opening minutes of Vesti news last night and saw Putin’s smiling face, his basking in the ecstatic greetings extended to him by youths in a vast auditorium for participants in a youth program intended to encourage and support their development into leading professionals of the next generation. The broadcaster made no concession to the shocking tragedy that was reported later in the news bulletin about the 7 killed, 15 sent to hospital, some with very serious injuries and still more wounded from a Ukrainian drone attack on a popular family holiday resort on the Black Sea in the Krasnodar region. Normal guidance for heads of state in such situations is for them to fly down to the scene of the tragedy, to declare several days of mourning and to address the broad public on what has occurred and what will be done about it. Not to have done so was a self-damaging act by Vladimir Putin that his compatriots will not forgive or forget.

They’re on streets in every city and town recording your license plate and often looking to tag you with a speeding ticket. If you have a late-model car, its cameras and computer chips will rat you out upon request. If you knock on your neighbor’s door, a camera is probably recording you. When you travel, almost all immigration authorities recognize your face in addition to taking digital fingerprints. Right now, as you read this via the internet, you’re being recorded by your own machine’s camera. Siri and Alexa hear everything you say. Now comes a company called Flock Safety. Since its founding in 2017, it’s installed about 100,000 cameras, mostly in metropolitan areas, peddling its systems to local governments and law enforcement agencies. I have no doubt millions of its cameras will be everywhere in the next few years. A perfect example of the corporate/State “partnership.” Mussolini would approve. As far as I can tell, it’s impossible to avoid being monitored and recorded in any populated area. You should try, of course, but the Eye of Sauron is everywhere, and the numbers of his minions are growing exponentially. All these systems are increasingly hooked up via AI, and they’re all available to the government. To paraphrase Joe Lewis: “You can run, but you can’t hide.” Some brave souls try to take them out. But it’s as futile as trying to wipe out an infestation of cockroaches by crushing them one at a time. And it’s very risky. Not a good idea.

Death by Hanging: On July 23, 1954, an agent’s bomb detonated early in his pocket at a cinema in Alexandria, leading to his arrest and the exposure of the entire network. Two were executed, two died by suicide in prison, others received long sentences, and the scandal forced Defense Minister Pinhas Lavon to resign, triggering a prolonged political crisis in Israel. Old tactics, new targets: In March 2026, two missiles were reportedly fired at the US-British base on Diego Garcia, but Tehran denies involvement. The 4,000-km range is double Iran’s official limit, and NATO’s chief has not backed the claims. Tehran asserts that Israel staged the attack to invent an ‘Iranian threat’ and pull Britain further into the war. Turkey targeted: Around the same time, several missiles intercepted over Turkey in March 2026 were attributed to Iran. Tehran called it a ‘false flag campaign’ and named Israel as the instigator. Two authors from the Atlantic Council think-tank gave a realistic assessment of Trump’s approach in a piece for the FP: The latest rumors are that Trump wants to cut electricity to Tehran in its entirety, punishing the Iranian people he so valiantly professed to be defending from the “regime” he now can’t even locate. But it is this very misunderstanding of the Iranian people that is fatefully leading Trump into his Waterloo moment. The Times piece provided a glimpse into how the people of Tehran already feel about the bumbling dotard even without his further instigation of their ire: Cutting their power will surely turn them against the “regime” this time! Senate Bill Would Put Age Checks In Every US Operating System
Every bill that builds a checkpoint says it is not building a checkpoint.
A bipartisan bill just introduced would build an age check into the operating system of every phone and computer sold in America. The Digital Age Assurance Act of 2026, S. 5090, from Senators Andy Kim, Cynthia Lummis, Adam Schiff, and John Barrasso, takes California’s age-signaling law and makes it the national standard. The bill was referred to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation on July 22, 2026, and would take effect 18 months after enactment. We finally obtained a copy of the bill text for you here. With the proposals, an operating system cannot be used without an account, and the account requires the user to “indicate the date of birth and age of the user.” For now, the user gets to declare their own age. A “covered device” is any computer, mobile device or other general-purpose computing device capable of running an operating system, so the requirement reaches practically everything. This is also backdated and accounts that already exist when the law takes effect are included. The operating provider may skip the prompt where it already knows the age of the user from some other obligation, including a purchase authorization. When a declaration is made into one of four brackets, under 13, 13 to 15, 16, or 17+. The system broadcasts only the bracket, which the bill defines as “non-personally identifiable data derived from a user’s date of birth or age.” Apps, app stores, and even browsers would have to have the ability to request that bracket and use it as “the primary indicator of a user’s age.”

The emic and etic framing of reality is most useful when applied to our own mass culture, which has been manufactured to make us all believe in the Liberal Belief System (L-B.S.) When we look at our mass culture from the outsider perspective it looks very different from the view it presents to we who have grown up inside it. In fact, it looks as insane as it is in reality. It does not appear insane if your entire life is shaped and submerged in the pseudo reality of a mass culture produced with advanced communications technology. All you have to do is step out of the display and look at it as if you were a visitor from elsewhere. That “elsewhere” could be a place, a time, or a completely different point of view. Another is to consider viewpoints of culture and indeed of liberalism itself from outside the bubble of liberal cultural production. This is to study writers and ideas which supply other ways of seeing the world, and the social reality engineered by the liberal system. I would suggest you read “Liberalism is A Sin” or some of the works of Joseph de Maistre. For a conceptual treatment of why liberalism collapses in insoluble paradox, you could look at “Why Liberalism Failed” by Patrick Deneen. To my mind, the best treatment of the Liberal idea in its revolutionary and counter-sane dimension is presented in the Catholic Social Teaching of Leo XIII. Viewed from the inside our mass culture no longer makes sense. It is a litany of contradictions of reality, a cacophony of countersanities. From the outside it is completely incoherent. It does not match the world, it refuses to recognise reality, it acts as if reality can be remade in its own image, it is increasingly irrelevant to anyone outside its shrinking sphere of influence. This is an economic and political system whose ideological beliefs have translated into the production of incoherence. If you want to live an orderly, meaningful and valuable life a coherent view of being and reality is better than its opposite. Try to find the most complete view of life, the world, and of human affairs which satisfies this description and test it against the competition.

How Israel Became A Haven For International Fraudsters, Crooks, And Paedophiles
Israel is home to thousands of international criminals accused or found guilty in a second country for committing a wide-variety of crimes. Many of the individuals are dual-nationals who have taken advantage of their ability to move seamlessly between Israel and their second country of citizenship to commit crimes and, in some cases, evade justice. The scale of the criminality, and the volume of cases (relative to the population of Israel), is astonishing. I was prompted to look into this after finding out that Timur Mindich, the ultimate financial beneficiary of the Ukrainian drone maker Fire Point, fled to Israel last year just days before being charged as the mastermind behind a $100 million embezzlement scheme involving Ukraine’s state nuclear power company. Mindich also happens to be the co-owner of Kvartal 95 Studio, the production company founded by Volodymyr Zelensky. Mindich, like many in this article, has taken advantage of Israel’s controversial Law of Return which allows any Jew in the world to claim Israeli citizenship without having to renounce their home country passport. Some of those accused and charged have made minor or international headlines, some haven’t, but the scale of the issue was such that I thought it would be useful to document my research here. In some cases, Israel has refused to extradite the wanted person despite requests from the country in which the crimes were committed. Staying on Ukraine and refused extradition requests, we have Oleksandr Dubilet, the former Chairman of the Board of Ukraine’s PrivatBank. Dubilet is currently a fugitive in Israel and the subject of multiple criminal investigations and extradition requests for his role in embezzling at least $100 million dollars following the 2016 privatisation of PrivatBank. To date, Israel has refused to extradite him.

British Academic And Press TV Co-Host David Miller Wins Legal Battle As UK Court Protects Anti-Zionist Beliefs
A British appeals tribunal has upheld a landmark ruling in favor of British academic David Miller, confirming that anti-Zionist beliefs are protected under UK equality law and dismissing almost all of the University of Bristol’s appeal against findings of unlawful discrimination and unfair dismissal.
The Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) overwhelmingly rejected the University of Bristol’s challenge to an earlier Employment Tribunal judgment that found Miller, a producer and co-host of Press TV’s weekly show ‘Palestine Declassified’, had been unlawfully discriminated against and unfairly dismissed because of his anti-Zionist philosophical beliefs. The Tuesday ruling establishes a binding legal precedent that anti-Zionist beliefs are protected under the Equality Act 2010, making it unlawful to discriminate against individuals because they hold the belief that Zionism is inherently racist, imperialist and colonial, and ought to be opposed. Miller, a professor of political sociology specializing in propaganda, lobbying and state power, was dismissed by the University of Bristol in October 2021 following a sustained campaign over his criticism of Zionism, Israel and pro-Israel lobbying organizations. The appeal court upheld the tribunal’s findings that Miller’s expression of his anti-Zionist beliefs had a “material impact” on the university’s decision to dismiss him, while reaffirming that protection of free speech is particularly important in cases involving political speech.

I wrote a research article in 2007 when I was still a naturopathic medical student at CCNM in Toronto about the dangers of statin drugs, and I have expanded the work here while also including my original writing and research. Stick around; there is a protocol for you at the end. What I have learned to date is that you never, EVER want to lower cholesterol. Cholesterol is an anti-inflammatory compound that is needed to patch vessel wall damage in the body. The brain represents approximately 2% of total body weight, yet it contains about 20% to 25% of the body’s cholesterol, making it the most cholesterol-rich organ in the human body. This concentrated supply is required to maintain myelin sheaths, preserve neuronal membrane integrity, and support normal synaptic signalling. [13] Lowering it is a fool’s journey. Statins Deplete CoenzymeQ10: What I found infuriating was that statins are well documented to reduce circulating CoQ10, an essential cofactor in mitochondrial energy production [14]. Every patient who came to me while taking a statin had been left uninformed about this depletion, and none had been advised to replace what the drug was lowering. CoQ10 is especially important to cardiac muscle because your heart has exceptionally high energy requirements. Clinical research has also shown that CoQ10 supplementation reduced major adverse cardiovascular events and cardiovascular mortality in patients with chronic heart failure [15]. Physicians routinely frighten patients into long-term statin use while presenting the evidence as settled and universally applicable. The scientific support for such widespread prescribing is far narrower than patients are led to believe. (I would argue this issue pertains to all suppressive allopathic interventions.) An updated meta-analysis pooled 12 randomised controlled trials involving 1,776 participants and confirmed a significant reduction in circulating CoQ10 during statin treatment. The reduction appeared across different statin classes and prescribing intensities [14]. This is a reproducible biochemical effect that deserves direct discussion with every patient before treatment begins, AND IT’S NOT HAPPENING. Wait until you see the numbers of just how many people are taking these poisons. I nearly fainted.

There was speculation over whether it was some character defect in the President that held him back, that imposed unnecessary caution which only emboldened NATO countries to ever more brazen provocations. It has taken this long and this far into the loss of deterrence, meaning the loss of Russian sovereignty, for the oligarch insiders to be pushed from the feeding trough and for the Kremlin to see its survival in changing course on the war.

In occupied Palestine, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich tells a settler conference that “Israel has no interest in joining the campaign . . . a confined campaign between Iran and the United States, is the correct [situation] and best for us [Israel].” In layman language, let’s sit and watch Americans die and pay for our war. Exhibit A: the U.S. military is depleting its own missile-defense stockpiles defending its bases across the region, while Israel hoards its interceptors in reserve. Israel isn’t spending down its stockpile. It’s waiting for the moment American stocks run dry and the Gulf states are left exposed. When that moment comes, Israeli interceptors will become prized leverage, offered to the UAE and the rest of the Gulf at a price. Last Sunday on Fox News, Netanyahu outlined to America his goals for the war against Iran. A foreign prime minister, on American airwaves, essentially setting the terms and the finish line for an American war, fought by American pilots, funded by American taxpayers, and now apparently concluded at Israel’s discretion. Whatever Trump negotiates, whatever Washington decides, Netanyahu has already told America it doesn’t matter. He isn’t waiting to end the war on Israel’s terms. He’s informing it.

Saudi Arabia and Kuwait had loaned Saddam Hussein $120 billion to prosecute his war in Iran. Now the creditors came calling. With oil prices in the gutter due to GCC overproduction, Iraq was forced to embark on a massive privatization campaign, selling off state assets to obtain the hard currency needed to pay off its debts. This hit at the heart of the Iraqi people who took pride in the nationalization of the Iraqi Petroleum Company, previously owned by the Four Horsemen. For decades Iraq had guarded its resources from multinational corporations, becoming the most modern and prosperous nation in the Middle East. Now the international bankers were swarming like vultures. Iraq’s agricultural sector was sold to the highest bidder, leaving many farmers impoverished. Labor unions were banned. Foreign investment, disallowed since 1964, flowed into the country. Local elites bought up state-owned factories.

While Saddam was preoccupied with the Iranians, the Kuwaiti government busied itself slowly moving its long-disputed border with Iraq northward into the area containing the massive Rumaila oilfield, which the Four Horsemen now knew to be one of the richest in the world. The expansion added 900 square miles to Kuwait and gave them control over the southern portion of Rumaila, which contains the largest portion of its estimated 30 billion barrels of oil. Iraq’s oil terminal at Fao was destroyed during the Iran/Iraq War, crippling INOC production at North Rumaila. Iraq wanted to lease the islands of Warbah and Bubiyan from Kuwait to serve as deep sea ports that could replace Fao. The Kuwaitis refused. In 1981 the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) bought Sante Fe Drilling Corporation and its high-tech engineering subsidiary Braun. Sante Fe was a known CIA front. Braun had devised a new slant drilling technique. Throughout the 1980’s KOC used this technology to drill horizontally into the Rumaila oilfield, 90% of which fell within Iraqi territory. [494] The Iraqis said Kuwait stole $10 billion worth of crude oil. After the Gulf War, Sante Fe continued to steal Iraqi oil. In April 1993 Kenneth Beaty, head of exploration for Sante Fe, was arrested by the Iraqi government when he was found inside Iraq checking an oil well at Rumaila. He was sentenced to eight years at Abu Ghraib prison on trespassing charges. [495] Estimates of Iraqi crude reserves continue to climb. The current estimate is 112 billion barrels, second only to Saudi Arabia and up from 97 billion barrels just a decade ago. And much of Iraq remains unexplored. David Mangan Jr., editor of The Oil Daily, later said of the Gulf War, “It is most likely that the US plan from the beginning was to capture Southern Iraq because that land holds the richest oil fields on earth.”

Shortly after Iraq attacked Kuwait Jordan’s King Hussein joined with Algerian President Chadli Bendjedid to organize an Arab League Summit in Algiers to try and head off a full-scale war. Saddam agreed to pull his troops from Kuwait while the summit proceeded. But Egypt, with backing from the US and Britain, convinced 14 of the 21 foreign ministers in attendance to denounce Iraq. The peace effort fell apart. The Bilderbergers would have their bloodbath. On October 5, 1990 Iraq’s Ambassador to the UN Sabah Talat Kadrat stated to the General Assembly, “America and its Western allies are seeking, through this military, political and informational campaign; to gain control over the oil wells and to impose imperialist political, economic and military hegemony over the world, and over the Third World countries in particular.” Al-Sabah Yellow Ribbons: Turkey followed US orders to shut down a key Iraqi oil pipeline. King Fahd agreed to allow US troops to base out of Saudi Arabia. UAE and Qatar followed suit. President Bush announced a $7.8 billion sale of F-15 fighters, M-60 tanks and Stinger missiles to Saudi Arabia; along with a letter of intent locking the Saudis into another purchase of 315 M-1 tanks worth $3 billion. He announced a $1.2 billion increase in military aid to Israel. Military sales to Egypt were expedited. A month later Bush announced another $20 billion in arms sales to the Saudis. The war helped the Four Horsemen further diminish the power of independent challengers. Sun Oil, American Petrofina, ARCO, Coastal, Unocal, Marathon and Pennzoil saw profits decline during the war. [513] The Gulf War pulled the US out of a deep recession. There had been much talk of waning US economic might. Japan was seen emerging as world economic superpower, with the Asian Tiger economies playing a supporting role. The US held competitive advantage in only three industries: oil, defense and engineering. Each US economic engine was revved to mach speed by the Gulf War and the reconstruction of Kuwait that followed.

The record profits accrued by US corporations as a result of the Gulf War also served to offset the imbalance in US/GCC trade created by GCC oil revenue. The oil monarchs were suddenly buying billions in US weaponry and paying US engineering firms to expand oil and gas facilities, allowing for higher oil production and lower oil prices that served as jet fuel for a sluggish US economy. The rebuilding of Kuwait was another shot in the US economic arm. The Bush Administration solicited financial contributions for the war effort which ended up exceeding the cost of the war. The US Treasury made money off the war. This profiteering didn’t go unnoticed. Germany and Japan both requested refunds for their contributions. [514] Saudi Arabia and Kuwait bore the brunt of the financial burden of the Gulf War, just as they were taking it on the chin for Saddam’s bills unpaid from the Iran/Iraq War. Did the US seek to diminish the wealth of these two most powerful GCC nations as a means to keep them dependent on US security schemes? Big Oil never liked the moves into downstream oil investments which both the Saudis and Kuwaitis had started making. Kuwait had been so successful there was industry talk of it becoming “the 8th Sister”. In 1993 Bechtel built a fertilizer plant in Syria, an oil pipeline in Algeria, oilfield infrastructure for Chevron Texaco in Kazakhstan and the Miami International Airport. In 1995 Bechtel led a USAID funded consortium to restructure the energy sectors in eleven Central and Eastern European nations and joined forces with Daewoo in a major Israeli industrial development. Saudi billionaire Sulaiman Olayan, who rode the Bechtel escalator to riches, told a meeting of international bankers in New York in 1993 that total losses to the GCC states due to the Gulf War were over $620 billion. Meanwhile to this day proceeds from all Iraqi oil go directly into the New York Federal Reserve Bank.

In all of human history, there are no papers in the peer reviewed literature showing completely unvaccinated kids are less healthy than their vaccinated peers. Zero. Yet there are many papers in the peer reviewed literature showing the opposite. If the studies are sufficiently powered, they all show the unvaccinated are healthier. Not by a little. By wide margins. And these are the kids within a pediatric practice so they are all seen by a doctor to check on their health status. Furthermore, I couldn’t find a single verifiable in-family anecdote where the unvaccinated kids in the family were less healthy than their vaccinated siblings. Please answer the survey at the end of this article and let’s get your experience. Grok couldn’t find a spontaneous post by any parent in the history of Twitter/X that posted such a story. It only found parents who spontaneously posted the opposite observation. And when the vax-unvax health hypothesis was formally tested by Marcus Zervos at Henry Ford Health, after they discovered that unvaccinated kids were healthier, Zervos admitted on hidden camera that he would not publish the result because it would end his career, not because there was something wrong with the study.

Specifically, at that time the CDC stated: “Studies have shown that there is no link between receiving vaccines and developing autism spectrum disorder (ASD). No links have been found between any vaccine ingredients and ASD.”1 2 3 4 On Nov. 19, 2025 the text about vaccines and autism was changed CDC officials to inform the reader that the possibility that vaccines could contribute to the development of autism had not been ruled out. The health agency’s website language changed to: “Vaccines do not cause autism” is not an evidence-based claim. Scientific studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines contribute to the development of autism. However, this statement has historically been disseminated by the CDC and other federal health agencies within HHS to prevent vaccine hesitancy.5 Now, it looks like Cassidy is determined to turn the clock back. This is one of the most famous paintings in America, and most people have no idea what they are actually looking at… The painting is Christina’s World, made by Andrew Wyeth in 1948, and the woman was real: her name was Anna Christina Olson, Wyeth’s neighbour in Cushing, Maine. Since childhood a degenerative condition had slowly taken the strength from her legs, until walking was no longer possible. She refused a wheelchair, and for her entire adult life she chose to drag herself across the ground with her arms instead, going wherever she wanted to go under her own power. Wyeth saw her one afternoon from an upstairs window, alone in that vast field, crawling slowly toward the house on the hill. He said the painting was an attempt to do justice to her extraordinary conquest of a life which most people would consider hopeless. Her world, he said, was limited physically but by no means spiritually. That is what turns this painting from a portrait of frailty into one of the most triumphant images ever made… Look at it long enough and it stops being about what her body took from her, and becomes about what she would not stop doing anyway. The field is enormous and she is small and the house is far away, and still she goes, because the alternative, to be carried, to give up, to let the distance win, was something she simply would not accept. There is one more thing: Christina loved this painting. Pink was her favorite color, and Wyeth had placed her exactly where she most wanted to be, out in the open, in her own field, under her own sky. Late in her life, when she could no longer even crawl out to that field, she said something that holds the whole meaning of art inside it: “Andy put me where he knew I wanted to be. Now that I can’t be there anymore, all I do is think of that picture, and I’m there.”

Large NYC Study Adds Evidence Linking Glyphosate To Preterm Birth Risk
Pregnant women who are exposed to glyphosate, a widely used herbicide, may face an increased risk of preterm births, according to one of the largest studies to date examining the link.
The study, led by NYU Langone Health and published in Environmental Pollution, showed that pregnant women with higher exposure to glyphosate, the active ingredient in the weedkiller Roundup, faced a significantly higher risk of going into spontaneous labor early. While previous research has linked glyphosate exposure to shorter pregnancies, the NYU study is one of the largest to examine exposure during pregnancy and preterm birth in humans. “This study reinforces that glyphosate exposure during pregnancy is widespread and may be linked to preterm birth risk. Paul Goresh And The Missing Photos
The world’s most famous crime photo is probably a forgery
Every famous assassination from the 20th century has an iconic image associated with it. For John Lennon’s assassination it is undoubtedly the Paul Goresh photo of John signing Mark Chapman’s album. Taken we were told just a few hours before the murder. The photo has practically become a logo for the Lennon assassination and like most logos, I believe it was carefully thought out and designed for maximum impact. I strongly believe there is a lot of evidence pointing to the fact that the image is fake. I’m not going to rehash all of my previous research and opinions on Goresh. I believe Goresh was an intelligence asset and I believe he was hired to surveil John Lennon through the guise of being a Lennon obsessive fan and amateur photographer. John Lennon also thought Goresh was an intelligence asset, before eventually tolerating the man he called the “fat fuck”. Like all good intelligence assets, Goresh’s background is patchy at best. We do know Goresh admitted on a podcast that someone inside the Lennon household was assisting him with intel. We also know Goresh relentlessly stalked Lennon in the last few months of his life. Years later Goresh was also accused of stalking a young women. His stalking tendencies probably began in his teens and this may have made Goresh easy to recruit and control. Goresh was a rabid Beatles memorabilia collector who also had an interest in security. Add all of this together with a fake amateur photographer persona and you find yourself with the perfect candidate for helping out with surveillance of all of John’s comings and goings throughout 1980. The simple story we were always told was that Paul was just an obsessive fan who liked photography. When Goresh fraudulently gained access to Lennon’s Dakota apartment in February 1979 posing as a VCR repairman, we weren’t told Goresh was a criminal. This fraudulent behaviour was (and still is) sold to us as just an over-eager fan who pushed it a little too far. ‘What a lovable scally. John must have liked him because he became his friend and they went on walks together’. This is simply not true.

A Condensation Of Military Incompetence
ith all the glorification of our “heroes” in uniform—a glorification that seems to grow in inverse proportion to the real need for them—a person could begin to feel afraid to utter aloud the sort of jokes that people used to make. For instance, you might feel the need to look over your shoulder before you repeat the old George Carlin observation that “military intelligence” is an oxymoron. The growing military hype and the sort of military intelligence with which I became all too familiar in my two years of service, 1966-1968, came together on Veterans Day weekend in November 2012. The picture of the U.S. Navy’s finest engaged in the Sisyphean task of mopping dew off the basketball court that had been laid on the deck of the USS Yorktown said it all. That was in coastal South Carolina on Friday night, November 9, in what was to have been a big military advertisement to kick off the weekend. The same fiasco played itself out on the deck of the USS Bataan in Jacksonville, Florida, except that the college basketball players there put themselves in harm’s way for an entire half, attempting to play on the virtual skating rink that the very predictable condensation had made of the surface. But it worked before in San Diego, I can imagine the Navy geniuses thinking, and they got a lot of great publicity out of it. We can do it at a couple of sites on the East Coast, the games won’t have to start so late at night for the Eastern audience, and we can quadruple the viewers. Apparently they have never paid much attention to the weatherman when he gives out the temperature number associated with the “dew point.”

The Joyless Pantomime of Optimizing Ennui
The joyless pantomime of optimizing our alienation is not a substitute for authentic fulfillment. We all know that geopolitics, the stock market, AI, the unemployment rate and all the rest of what’s presented as “explaining” everything is “important,” but all these analytic abstractions ignore what we actually experience. This divide between what we’re told we should be experiencing and what we are actually experiencing is what I call the politics of experience, a term coined by R.D. Laing in the 1960s. The basic idea is that there’s a widening gulf between what we actually experience and what we’re told we should be experiencing, and this disconnect is inescapably deranging. Since the entire realm we inhabit is telling us everything’s great and the sky’s the limit, we pantomime this same claim as if we’re actually experiencing authentic joy because everyone else seems to believe it. If we confess that we don’t feel everything’s great and what we actually feel is a complete disconnect from everything we’re supposed to be feeling, then we risk an internal and social divide that threatens our entire status quo: if we recognize it’s all a joyless pantomime, then what? But everyone else doesn’t actually believe it, either; they’re just going through the motions in the hope that the joyless pantomime will keep everything they’re afraid of losing glued together. But if we’ve substituted an optimized-for-optimization pantomime for authentic experience, then we’ve already lost ourselves and our ability to discern the hollowness of the civilizational psychosis that claims a life of ennui and alienation is “living our best lives.” The gulf between what we’re told is joyful and wondrously promising and our lived experience is now so wide that the cracks are showing.

In 1902, Dr Alexis Carrel was a brilliant French surgeon and scientist. Though raised Catholic, he had drifted into agnosticism and approached religion with deep scepticism. He boarded a train to Lourdes not as a pilgrim, but as a curious observer, intending to document what he expected would be hysteria or fraud. On that same train was 23-year-old Marie Bailly. She was dying of advanced tuberculous peritonitis. Her abdomen was massively swollen and hard with large masses. Multiple doctors confirmed she was near death. Carrel himself injected her with morphine during the night, believing she might not survive the journey. The next day at Lourdes, against medical advice, Marie was taken to the Grotto. Three pitchers of spring water were poured over her swollen abdomen. Carrel stood behind her, notebook in hand, carefully recording every detail. What he witnessed left him stunned: The enormously distended and rock-hard abdomen began to flatten. Within about 30 minutes, the swelling had completely disappeared. No fluid drained from her body. Her pulse strengthened. The hard masses were gone. By the next day, Marie sat up, ate without vomiting, dressed herself, and walked. Carrel later wrote that he had seen something ‘complete, rapid, and, in a word, marvellous.’

August 6, 1945 ..The Incredible Miracle At Hiroshima – 8 Priests Survive Atomic Blast
On August 6, 1945, the B-29 aircraft Enola Gay dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima at 8:15 a.m. The bomb exploded half a mile from the Jesuit Church of Our Lady’s Assumption. More than 100,000 people were killed instantly and thousands more died months later from the effects of radiation. However, the church building and eight Jesuit priests stationed there survived. Nine days later on August 15, the feast of Our Lady’s Assumption, U.S. forces were ordered to cease fire. Father Paul Ruge, spiritual director at the National Blue Army Shrine, wrote this account of his conversations with one of the Jesuit survivors, Father Hubert Schiffer. I met Father Schiffer in the late 1970s at the Tri-City Airport in Saginaw, Mich., as he was going to give a talk for the Blue Army Novena/Triduum. As I chauffeured him around he told me stories of his life, especially of the atomic explosion at Hiroshima. On the morning of August 6, 1945, he had just finished Mass, went into the rectory and sat down at the breakfast table. He had just sliced a grapefruit and put his spoon into the grapefruit when there was a bright flash of light. His first thought was that it was an explosion in the harbor (this was a major port where the Japanese refueled their submarines.) Then, in the words of Father Schiffer: “Suddenly, a terrific explosion filled the air with one bursting thunderstroke. An invisible force lifted me from the chair, hurled me through the air, shook me, battered me, whirled me ’round and ’round like a leaf in a gust of autumn wind.”
