Views requested on proposal to set income thresholds for family reunification by decree

The Ministry of the Interior is requesting views on a government proposal under which the euro amounts required to demonstrate sufficient financial resources for family members of persons residing in Finland on a residence permit would in future be laid down by government decree. The consultation round closes on 2 October 2026.
Finnish Border Guard’s criminal intelligence activities to be strengthened to combat organised crime

On 27 August, the Government submitted to Parliament a proposal for legislation on the criminal intelligence activities of the Finnish Border Guard. The proposal would improve the Border Guard’s ability to prevent and combat organised crime involving illegal entry into Finland and human trafficking, as well as other serious crime.
Amendments proposed to Act on Emergency Warnings

On 27 August, the Government submitted to Parliament a proposal to amend the Act on Emergency Warnings. The amendments would make the legislative changes needed for introducing a public warning system based on cell broadcast technology. The amendments are scheduled to enter into force on 1 November 2026.
