Extensible community software for a global society
Kopling is open source, self-hosted community software built with widely adopted technology, so no feature is out of reach.
Benefits
A few reasons Kopling is worth building a community on, or building extensions for.
-
01Built to extend, so you can tailor it to your needs. Using an industry-standard stack including Laravel and Tailwind.
-
02Honors data sovereignty, for people and industries that need to own their data, and treat the data of others with respect.
-
03By people, for people, to have honest interactions, to build real relationships.
-
04Runs anywhere, from shared hosting plans to scalable enterprise cloud environments.
-
05Symbiotic with Laravel, just another package in your Laravel app.
Why Kopling
Why new software, not an existing project?
Most community software picks one of two paths: either it's built around a single kind of community and doesn't bend, or it's extendable but that flexibility comes wrapped in a complex stack — which ends up keeping most people out rather than inviting them in. Kopling is built for both: extendability first, from day one, and a stack that's genuinely current — Laravel, Tailwind, and htmx — deliberately avoiding that complexity, so the people who want to extend it actually can.

Twenty years of engineering-lead roles, including development teams at one of Europe's largest fashion e-commerce platforms — a unicorn — paired with a decade of open source community stewardship leading Flarum, from moderator to chairman of its foundation.
"Ideas deserve software that gets out of the way. Kopling bridges that gap, a community platform flexible enough to become whatever it needs to be."
