‘Speaking to my worker made me feel like I was seen and heard. In my relationship, I felt like nobody. My worker gave me the opportunity to have my voice heard’.

‘This service helped me realise that me and my life matters’.

‘If it wasn’t for LDVS I would not have got out of the situation. LDVS helped me recognise the signs to look out for in dealing with domestic abuse. They helped me to recognise my self-worth and gain self-respect’.

‘You’ve been really good, taken me out of a tunnel. I’d be lost without Leeds Domestic Violence Service. I would come to you again’.

‘I am grateful for workers like my worker. Even the telephone support worked. It gave me confidence to ring the police against my ex-wife. I would never have done this before as she used to say I am a big man and no one would believe me’.

‘If I hadn’t received support here, I think I would still be stuck in survival mode. emotionally overwhelmed and unsure of how to move forward. Being here gave me stability, clarity and the chance to start again in a safe space, without it, I don’t think I would’ve found the strength to rebuild the way I have’.

‘Before having support I never went out, I had no confidence at all and didn’t feel good about myself. Now I do go out and have made friends. My support worker was amazing and really helped’.
