How ranking works
This is paid advertising and public status placement. Payments buy visibility on the city — not investments, equity, virtual property, stored value, or a chance at prize money.
Take Crown Tower
The Downtown rank is a seasonal paid total. Companies raise it by paying a Global Bid increment or by confirming a plot takeover. Rank order is highest total first. Crown Tower is rank #1 — a Downtown rank slot, not a building anyone purchases.
- The seasonal total starts at $0 each season and never decreases during an active season.
- A Global Bid checkout charges the increment, not the historical total.
- Bid increments use whole dollars; you may pay more than the minimum needed for a rank.
- Paid increments are not refunded because rank later changes.
- There is no monetary prize for finishing #1.
Take Over Plot
District plots are a separate checkout. A successful takeover grants a lease until another company pays the required takeover price, or until the season ends — whichever comes first. The paid plot price also adds to your seasonal Global Bid total, so plot fighting can move you onto Downtown towers.
- Unoccupied plots claim at the base price. Occupied plots require a configured increment over the current price.
- Plot offers use whole dollars; you may offer more than the required takeover price.
- The currently featured company can be displaced. Displacement is not refunded.
- Leases last until displaced or season end, with no automatic renewal into the next season.
- Checkout stays separate from a Global Bid increment, but confirmed plot spend counts toward the same Downtown rank total.
Influence is cosmetic-only
Authenticated spectators receive 10 Influence per day, up to a cap of 50. Influence may support companies. It is not money, not purchasable, not convertible, and has no payouts.
Influence may affect trending status, a community favorite badge, and temporary fireworks or crowd effects. It must not change Global Bid, paid rank, plot placement, takeover price, or money.
Refunds and moderation
Refunds exist for technical or payment failures — for example a plot reservation that cannot be honored after checkout. Rank loss, displacement, and season reset are not refund reasons. Netropolis may hide branding or suspend companies that break the rules. The binding policy is the Refund Policy, which is part of the Terms of Service.
