I love to get involved in the WordPress community, as it’s a pleasant way to give back to WordPress what WordPress allows me to accomplish on my business and personal sites.

I co-organise the WordPress meetups in Geneva since 2013 and have been part of the WordCamps organisation teams in Swiss WordPress events since 2016. I have also been a speaker or a volunteer in several other events. WordCamp Europe volunteer in 2017, 2019, 2022, 2024, 2026, and co-organiser in 2024, 2025.

In 2024, I bumbed up the number of hours I spend contributing, it has been about 80 hours/month (40 in the Summer) until WCEU 2025. I brought this down in 2026 to 10-15 as I’m not a WCEU co-org for the 2026 edition.

I’m now (since August 2024) sponsored for 20 hours/month (5/week) by Themeisle.com ❤️ via the the “Five for the Future” program and I’m looking for additional sponsors for the remaining hours, more information here https://patriciabt.com/wordpress/sponsor
I might in the future be sponsored by my own company when I will establish my LLC and generate enough income.

— I organise events in Switzerland (WordCamp Switzerland in September 2026, and possibly a Campus Connect event for 2027)
— I helped revive some Meetup groups in Switzerland, France (reactivation program)
— I work with the GatherPress team, for community engagement and to help the transition from Meetup for our local events
— I’m an event-supporter (previously called “mentor”) for several WordCamps in Europe
— I’m often volunteer, speaker, and/or microsponsor at WordCamp events when I’m not a co-organiser
— I act as a “bridge person” between local (Switzerland/France) and global teams, and between other topics/groups among the community
— GatherPress: outreach, bridge between the GatherPress team and WP Leadership/Meta team, testing, international perspective (other conditions, languages, date/time formats, etc)

These topics are still relevant even though the official teams are closed, the discussion happens elsewhere. We hope for a reopening of the official team.

WordPress Origin Story

I discarded WordPress in 2006 because it was not multilingual 😉 but after working with another CMS from 2006 to 2012, I discovered that with WordPress, it just worked without the need to dive in the code… perfect for me: I’m neither a developer nor a designer and I love to use the existing tools from the huge community ❤️ (plugins and themes, done by skilled people, so why reinvent the wheel)
