There’s something truly nostalgic about hitting up a fast food restaurant. Many of us grew up frequenting these locales, getting excited at the prospect of a Happy Meal (toy included!) or stuffing our faces after a sweaty sports game.
Back in the day, fast food restaurants each had their own charm—McDonald’s locations featured PlayPlace jungle gyms for kids to burn off energy, and KFC beckoned customers with its signature red-and-white stripes and rotating chicken bucket sign. Today, many of these fast food chains have morphed from colorful, eclectic dining spots into monotone, corporate, box-like structures. It’s a shame!
Flipping through these old photos of classic fast-food joints was a journey back to my childhood. I remember road trips where you’d recognize a place’s roofline before the sign could be read. Now we have look-alike boxes and computer screens taking our orders. It’s just not the same, man.

Grocery delivery hasn’t arrived, so a food and coffee run HAD to be done. Not a bad place, the cappuccino is nice. Better than the K-Cups the Airbnb had available. I’m a sucker for a breakfast-all-day spot.

In Dallas, I ate at Mi Cocina weekly through college. That they have one in Tulsa is a miracle. In town for a concert, and this is always the pregame spot.

⭐⭐⭐ The next movie in the plan to get ready for Doomsday. I’m a fan of the John Hughes ’80s high school vibe, The Breakfast Club meets European Vacation. People take this movie too seriously. I enjoyed the levity in the first half and the shift into high gear in the second.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ The rewatch towards Doomsday continues! There's a lot to like about Endgame. Among the modern serious Marvel movies, this is pretty high on the list, a list that exists separately from the silly Marvel films. I'm a sucker for those.

At San Diego Comic-Con, fans of Dungeon Crawler Carl got some exciting news about the forthcoming TV adaptation of the popular novels.
The books — there are eight, planned to conclude at 10 — were initially self-published online by author Matt Dinniman, then became so popular that the rights were acquired by Penguin Random House. Now, that popularity has spawned a series set to debut on Peacock.
In 2024, Deadline reported that the series had been acquired by Universal International Studios, with Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door banner producing and Chris Yost writing and executive producing. Close to two years later, Variety broke the news that the Dungeon Crawler Carl show is officially in development over at Peacock, with MacFarlane and Yost still attached.
So far, the only cast member confirmed for Dungeon Crawler Carl is Jeff Hays, the narrator and producer of the audiobooks. He’ll voice Princess Donut. This exciting news broke at San Diego Comic-Con, during Matt Dinniman’s spotlight panel.
Well, this is a bit of good news for us nerds out there. Not only do we get a television adaptation, but the audiobook voice we know and love for Princess Donut comes with the package. Seth MacFarlane isn’t a bad choice for production. Can’t wait!

We celebrate Casio Watch’s 50th anniversary by bringing back the very first ring watch. A whole new style of digital watch — both practical and playful — thanks to a miniature module and advanced metalworking technology.
Creating a ring-sized, full-metal version of the Casio watch’s complex form is no easy feat. To make this possible, we needed to use a special method of metal processing to inject a mixture of fine metal powders and resin into a mold. Using metal injection molding (MIM), the case, case back, and ring are molded in one piece, with even the dimpled design on the band faithfully reproduced. A special glass adhesive technique ensures a tight seal for a watch built to be water-resistant while still allowing the battery to be replaced.
We downsized the standard watch module by a factor of 10 and combined it with a small button battery to create a 3-button digital watch that fits on your finger. Even at this small size, the watch features a 7-segment LCD that displays not only the time down to the second, but also the date, dual time, and stopwatch functionality.
I saw these drop a few months ago, and I laughed out loud. A ring that looks like a classic G-Shock? They’re back in stock, and this little goof may have grown on me just a bit.
