How quoting works
Step 1
Send what you have
A STEP file, a PDF drawing, a dimensioned sketch, or a photograph of the part. If it is easier, send the part itself. See what to include.
Step 2
We review and follow up
We confirm material, quantity, tolerances, and finish. With a complete print or 3D model, pricing and a lead time usually follow within one business day. Working from a sketch, a photograph, or a sample part, we talk it through first. We build the model with you, then quote the actual part.
Step 3
You approve the quote
Approve the quote and we schedule the job and confirm a delivery date in writing before any material is cut.
Step 4
We machine, inspect, and ship
Parts are inspected against your drawing before they leave, then shipped to you.
Your drawings stay yours
Drawings, models, and specifications you send are treated as confidential. They are used to quote and build your parts, and are not shared outside the vendors working on your job. If your project requires an NDA before you send anything, tell us and we will sign one first.
How we work covers the order of work, what gets checked before anything is cut, and what we will tell you about your part.

Schwantek is a precision machine shop. We do CNC milling and turning, tight-tolerance machined parts, and design for manufacturing. We also do CAD modeling and assembly fit checks, reverse engineering and 3D scanning, and obsolete replacement parts.
Where is Schwantek located?
Colorado Springs, Colorado. We serve the Front Range from Denver to Pueblo and ship nationwide.
How fast can I get a quote?
Most quotes are returned within one business day when we have a print or a 3D model. Starting from a sketch, a photograph, or a sample part takes longer. We confirm the details and build the model first, then price the part. Email sales@schwantek.com or use the quote form on this page.
How do I get a custom metal part made?
Email what you have to sales@schwantek.com: a STEP file, a PDF print, a dimensioned sketch, or a photograph with measurements. We will confirm material, quantity, tolerances, and finish, then return pricing and a lead time. If a drawing or model has to be created first, we build it with you before quoting.
Where can I order custom metal parts near Colorado Springs?
We are located in Colorado Springs and serve the Front Range from Denver to Pueblo. Email sales@schwantek.com to begin a quote.
How much do custom metal parts cost?
Custom work has no list price. Cost is determined by material, part complexity, tolerances, finish, and quantity. A simple bracket is inexpensive; a tight-tolerance part requiring several setups is not. Send the print and we will quote the actual part.
Do you ship custom metal parts nationwide?
Yes. We ship to all 50 states, and customers do not need to be local to place an order.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
No. We accept single parts, small batches, and repeat production runs.

See our guide, How to get a custom metal part made, covering what to send, how tolerances affect cost, and typical lead times.

What file formats do you accept?
STEP, IGES, DXF, and PDF drawings. We can also work from a dimensioned sketch or an existing sample part.
What if I do not have a 3D CAD file?
That is not a problem. We build the CAD model with you from a sketch, a print, a photograph with dimensions, or the existing part. 3D scanning is available when a part needs an accurate model.
Can you make a part if I do not have a drawing?
Yes. Send us the worn or broken part. We measure or scan it, produce the drawing, and reproduce it, including components the original manufacturer no longer supports.
Will you sign an NDA before I send drawings?
Yes. Send yours with your inquiry, or ask and we will provide one before you send anything.
