Explore Our Hunts

wilderness vacation of a lifetime.

Your Gateway to the Rocky Mountain Trench

“The perfect opportunity to unplug, unwind and let your body and soul do a little recharging.”

SOLAR & WIND POWER

Our deep connection to this land means respecting it. Located 100 air miles from the nearest power line, our eco-friendly cabins run primarily on solar and wind power.

WILD MOUNTAIN RAISED HORSES

Our 60-plus head of horses are as tough and independent as the mountains they roam. Free-ranging for much of the year, they are true partners in our hunting excursions.

WE GROW OUR OWN FOOD

Authenticity extends to our table. We grow a vast organic garden and greenhouse which contributes to a large portion of our fresh, colourful meals.

FLOAT & BUSH PLANES

All of our guided hunting adventures begin with a flight. Our territory is only accessible by air, and you’ll fly in with one of our three dedicated bush planes.

2.5 million acres of Remote Wilderness

Welcome to Scoop Lake Outfitters, where sound wildlife management and land use protection provide an incredible opportunity for ecotourism and fair chase hunting. Here, wilderness is defined as “the most intact, undisturbed wild natural areas left on our planet.”

From August 1st to October 15th of each year, we offer world-class, free-range, fair chase hunts.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

We recommend Air North for flights into the north. They’re a Yukon-based carrier that knows this region well and handles the kinds of gear hunters bring far better than the major airlines. If you have routing flexibility, Calgary is a better connection point than Vancouver. It’s less congested, and we’ve found it more reliable for getting hunters and gear north on schedule.

Yes, driving is a great option if you want to bring your trophy and meat back yourself. We have a safe, secure place to park your vehicle at no extra cost for the duration of your hunt. When you return, we can store your meat in our cooler, and we offer a professional butcher service on-site if you’d like it cut and packed before the drive home.

Scoop Lake Outfitters takes care of all of the hunting licenses and tags that you need.

Caribou is now open! Grizzly bear season is currently closed in BC. Grizzly bear hunting was ended by the provincial government in 2017 and remains closed pending legal and regulatory review, see our conservation section below for more detail. We hope the Grizzly season will reopen in the future and we’ll update this page when they do.

Stone Sheep and Mountain Goat hunts are demanding; covering steep terrain for multiple days, and playing a mental mind game. We strongly recommend a serious fitness program in the months leading up to your hunt. Moose and elk hunts are more accessible, with lake-based and horseback options available. We’re happy to discuss what to expect for your specific hunt so you can prepare accordingly.

All hunts include guide service, fly-in transportation from base camp, camp accommodation, all meals in the field, and meat care. What’s not included: your BC hunting licence and tags, gratuities, trophy preparation and shipping, and any personal travel to base camp. Contact us for a full pricing breakdown, every hunt is priced individually based on species, duration, and group size.

Your Hosts

The Carys

Your hosts Darwin and Wendy Cary, and their daughters Tiffany and Trina, will assist you with arranging your wilderness vacation of a lifetime. Darwin is a second-generation guide outfitter; his parents started outfitting in this region back in the 50’s. Wendy has been in the area for over 30 years, and their girls, now third-generation outfitters, have been raised here, instilling generations of expertise into every hunt.
