- On this day in 1305: William Wallace was brutally executed in London. Just 18 days earlier, he was betrayed at Robroyston by John de Menteith, a Scottish knight loyal to England. Taken to Westminster Hall, Wallace faced a sham trial for treason. This amazing statue is in Aberdeen

- Happy birthday to one half of The Corries, Ronnie Browne, who was born in Edinburgh in 1937. After partner Roy Williamson died in 1990, Browne regularly sang Flower of Scotland for the Scottish national rugby and football teams and at other major events. He retired in 2015.
- On This Day in 1872: Glaswegian poet William Miller died. Shown here is his memorial, which is in Glasgow Necropolis – alongside the nursery rhyme that made him famous, Wee Willie Winkie. An absolute classic ❤️
