July in the Biosphere 🌐 • The White House published a report, "Science: A New Golden Age," calling to fund scientists directly and make research open and auditable. Much of it reads like the case Bio has made for years. • PeptAI's next experiments are heading to a real lab.

Bio Monthly (July 2026): The White House Backs Open Science, PeptAI Goes to the Lab, Research Agents
Highlights from July in the Biosphere 🌐 This month the White House published a report, "Science: A New Golden Age." Its recommendations align closely with what Bio has been building. It calls for...

AI biology is still early enough for its safeguards to be built into the stack. @RANDCorporation maps nine interventions across access to models and data, material screening, detection, attribution and public-health response. No single guardrail can cover a chain running from

"AI capabilities in biology are advancing really fast, but luckily most dangerous thresholds have not yet been crossed," says RAND's Steph Guerra. Given the nature of the threat, we need a "layered system of mutually reinforcing approaches" to defense. axios.com/2026/08/21/saf…

Congratulations to @adaptyvbio on the $40M. The line worth reading twice is that AI can only move as fast as the experiments behind it. Building throughput on the physical side is slower and less glamorous than model work, and it's what the whole field is actually waiting on.

We raised a $40M Series A to build the automated lab for agentic biology. Last week, we shared the work we did with @Anthropic: Claude designed proteins, sent them to our automated wet lab, and got real experimental data back. We believe this is where biology is going: AI

Science pays for the same failure many times over, and nobody involved is doing anything wrong. A lab spends two years on an approach and it doesn't work. That result closes a door, and there are only so many doors, which makes it worth knowing. It goes nowhere. No journal

A condition affecting eight thousand people costs about the same to research as one affecting eight million. Same trial design, decade, and regulators. What changes is who you sell the answer to. So for eight thousand people, the answer mostly doesn't get looked for. They
