A supply chain screen can fail before any hazard screening is run. Resolve 'Acme Components, Shenzhen' to the city centroid and you screen a downtown district, not the plant by the water. A silent geocode failure reads as no risk when it means no data.

Averaging twelve hazards into one site score is how the hazard that stops the plant disappears. One Extreme and eleven Lows reads Moderate. We ask clients to weight the hazards by what the site depends on and read both scores. Worked example, ten sites:

A manufacturing climate risk assessment worked end to end: 12 hazards, three scenarios, flood Value-at-Risk, and expected annual damage (EAD) across return periods.

Most teams decide how much nature work to do by what they will have to publish. TNFD runs the other way. You work out what each site depends on, what it affects and what threatens it. Materiality decides what reaches the report, not how much you look at.

Typhoon Dolphin came ashore in eastern Zhejiang, the strongest storm to hit China this year, across the Ningbo-Zhoushan port belt. A register with one China supplier line misses it: the port moving your parts and the tier-2 plants behind your tier-1 sit in the same stretch.

What an asset-level climate risk assessment looks like, end to end on a warehouse: elevation, land-cover change, 12 hazards, 3 scenarios to 2050, flood depth at the pad, expected annual damage. Sits in a flood-prone area. No water modeled on the asset.
