- Russia’s attack on Kyiv damaged the office of 5 Channel, destroying its newsroom, studio, equipment, and workspaces. The same strike destroyed the home of Ukrainian media professionals Svitlana Chepurenko and Kateryna Fedorchenko. They survived because they were in a shelter.
- Russia’s overnight attack on Kyiv damaged a historic early-20th-century building on Taras Shevchenko Boulevard, designed by architect Yosyp Zektser. The landmark caught fire after the strike. The attack killed at least 20 people and injured 86.
- On July 1, 2023, Viktoriia Amelina — acclaimed Ukrainian writer and war crimes documenter — died from injuries sustained in Russia's missile strike on Kramatorsk. Her courage, moral clarity, and words still guide us. We carry on her work and defend the truth she died for. RIP❤️🩹
- PEN Ukraine has issued the statement “For Our Freedom and Yours.” Attempts to divide Ukraine and Poland serve our common historical enemy. Our freedom depends on solidarity and joint efforts.
