We brought @DrGaborMate to Scotland to highlight β€˜WHY’ we have such high levels of drug and alcohol deaths, mental illness, and what also contributes to leading causes of death such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, stroke, and suicide. #ACEsToAssets

This is also true for other forms of violence; β€œtrauma begets trauma”. Violence is a symptom of deeper seated trouble’s. The blunt tool of criminalisation rarely works.

β€œGun violence is a public health issue. People who have themselves been harmed are more likely to cause harm in the future. So we need to understand how to interrupt those cycles.” – Jonathan Jay, DrPH, JD, @BUSPH.Β shorturl.at/91DWy #GunViolencePrevention #PublicHealth

This is outstanding. Regardless of what anyone says about this or thinks. Young people will love this, you cooperate with who you’re connected too, not who you fear! Respect. 🫑

I’ve seen this catharsis in many settings, not just the therapy room!

It’s surprising how often therapy acts as a confessional - deep guilt & shame are mitigated by the therapist not condeming or recoiling in horror but genuniely seeking to understand. β€œThere but for the grace of God go I” is the attitude. In that move much healing is done.
