    Good paper. transaction log\WAL storage for OLTP databases doesn't belong in S3 (for datalakes... maybe?). The design proposed in the paper is very similar to the HorizonDB WAL server.

    I have found the phrase "databases built on S3" misleading. In some of these systems an ACK'd write doesn't even reach S3 so in what sense is S3 the source of truth?
