    the work dinner situation is out of hand congress needs to pass some common-sense reforms: - cocktail “hour” no longer than 45m - seated for dinner by 6:30 - just serve the goddamn apps all at once - maximum 10 min gap between courses - dessert hits table by 8pm LATEST

    people aren't appreciating 5.6 Luna enough it's super fast, and "smart enough" for most tasks – and priced (quite intentionally, I believe) to smother out open source we're quickly seeing it become the default for a lot of users in @_hex_tech and I'd expect to see that go up

    Hex would not be possible without DuckDB, it’s a goddamn miracle of db technology People are already hand-wringing about this outcome, but I’m so so excited for the project to get the resources it deserves

    Today, @ducklabs_com is joining @awscloud. The move is expected to be completed by early September. Joining AWS gives DuckLabs the resources and reach to bring DuckDB, DuckLake, and the Quack protocol to many more developers and organizations – and to pursue ideas at a scale

    It used to be that the ideas were cheap, implementation was hard – and a deep technical blog post was almost a "dare-you-to-try-and-copy-this" flex Now that AI can repro in a weekend, I wonder if it will change the calculus, and people keep more secrets locked up?
