- Part of what makes hard tech hard is that the idea DOES matter -- you can't JUST bet on the team (though that matters too, of course!). Pivots are are not forthcoming in hard tech: the idea AND the team have to be right straight out of the chute.I was talking to a YC partner about how well all the hard tech startups are doing. He said investors are hot to fund them because they're afraid AI will eat all software. I'm glad hardware startups are getting funded, but this is a mistake. Good founders are what wins.
