Can ChatGPT read files on your actual computer? Yes, through Remote MCP, and you choose exactly which folders. ~/Documents, ~/Projects, nothing else visible. The permission list is the product. Which 3 folders would you allow?

On a train after a client trip, sent ChatGPT a photo of the receipt. Remote MCP filed it into the trip folder on my Mac and added the line to the expense spreadsheet, correct sheet and all. Never opened the laptop.

Stop uploading files one by one. "In my Reports folder, find PDFs from this month. List them first, then summarize the top 3 and save a brief next to the source files." Remote MCP reads and writes where the files already live. No dialog boxes.
