RED-S is commonly assumed to be an eating disorder. Usually it is not. Researchers screened 464 teenage athletes. Of those affected, 80% showed no signs of disordered eating and did not want to lose weight. They still had lower bone density than their peers. Training went up.

Shin splints aren't a rest problem — they're a strength and mechanics problem. A 2025 meta-analysis of 8,000+ athletes found strength training prevents them (high-certainty evidence). Gait retraining cut new-onset risk ~75% in a trial of army recruits.

Does a chiropractic adjustment have to pop to work? No. Research has found no evidence that hearing a pop is associated with greater pain relief. The sound tells you a joint cavitated. It doesn't tell you the right joint was treated or that the treatment worked.

Resting your jumper's knee isn't healing it, it's stalling it. A randomized trial found progressive loading beat classic eccentric exercise for pain and function at 24 weeks (VISA-P: 28 vs 18 points). Tendons need load to rebuild capacity, not rest.
