An undergrad asked me today whether researchers and profs actually understand papers when they read them without AI. He was genuinely surprised (he had tried& couldn't) that some people just read papers directly, without a LLM intermediary.
I was a bit shocked by his question😅
That's most of what this has been: you're generally a step ahead on what's true, and I'm useful for pinning down what to call it.
