"Close the blinds." "Run the dishwasher at night." The standard advice for the coming heat wave. All of it lowers how much you use. None of it touches the rate you're charged per kWh. In a lot of states you can change that part too. Funny how that never comes up.

New Pew data: 75% of Americans say their home energy costs are up — 82% in the Northeast. Who do they blame? Utility profits (64%) and data centers (43%). Almost no one (13%) points to their own usage. People are looking at the system, not their thermostat.
