73%. That's the share of appealed Medicare Part D prescription rejections that were overturned, per the HHS Inspector General. That's not a close-call rate. That's denial used as a cost control — and patients paying for it in untreated weeks.

This happened routinely when we did inpatient work. It’s absolute lunacy wrapped in ‘protocol’-designed by those who can’t do the job and at not affected by the consequences. So patients and clinicians suffer daily. The suits are stupid, and should be treated as such.

Guess who’s joining me on Lifers to debate whether autonomous AI will outpace human physicians? My friends it is AMA CEO John Whyte and one of the JAMA paper’s authors Zeke Emanuel. They are ready to duke it out over ice cream. If you are not subscribed, links below. 👇

And here’s the catch usually not discussed in Value based ‘payouts’. The system is so f’n convoluted you need a 3rd party to help you navigate it and they often make more money from the ‘shared savings’ than docs actually providing the care. Sound familiar??

    Replying to @SmackoverHawg @pgipe and @CMSGov
Given that CMS payments aren't going up, they force us to play the game. The current ACO we work with is helping keep us afloat financially and without them we'd be screwed. However, they also made more off our office in the last two years than I've paid myself

Yearly meeting with ACO medical director today. Always a solid reminder that not only is VBC completely asinine but @CMSGov couldn’t possibly be any more destructive to patient care. The level of incompetence is mind boggling.
