    The greatest invention in moving from typesetting to typewriting to word processing to personal computing era? CUT AND PASTE! made text far more malleable, and to me, the best editing is being able to see both *gestalt* (overall shape of a piece) AND moves at *atomic* level

    Most people don't know what editors really do. It's not copyediting! (AI can easily do that, in various preferred styles too) - is not just emotional either. Yes editors are good at "kills" -- but the real value great editors bring is RESTRUCTURING. (I look for this in tests)

    Yes! This has been my primary source of nutrition in my info diet over last couple years -- also, lotsa Victorian (as well as Edwardian) stuff applies pretty well to shifts today
