Every place, with the day we checked it
Launch boards, startup and AI directories, subreddits, forums, newsletters, app stores and review sites: 1,037 places where a founder can launch, each with the facts that decide whether it is worth your time. We visit each one and write down whether it is alive, what a listing costs and whether its link counts, with the date we looked.
Alive or notWe read its newest listings. A site with nothing new for months, or one that is gone, is left out until a check finds it live again.
Whether the link countsWe open up to six real listings and read the link back to each product.
What it costsCopied from the submit page, with a quote. If it sits behind a sign-in, we say so.
A date on every entryEach record shows the day we looked. This list was checked Oct 14 to Nov 4, 2026.
Questions founders ask
What is a startup directory?
A website that lists new products, usually by category, so people looking for a tool can find yours. A launch board is a kind of directory that ranks new launches by day or week, like Product Hunt; this list covers both, plus the communities and newsletters where founders share what they built.
How many startup directories are there?
We list 1,037 places where a founder can launch, each with the date we checked it. Places that go quiet or stop working are left out until a check finds them live again.
What are the best startup directories in 2026?
The best ones are the places that are alive, send readers and give a link that counts. Start here is the short list most launches begin with, and Free and dofollow holds the 70 that list you for free and gave a dofollow link. The whole list opens with the highest-ranked places first.
Which startup directories are free?
434 of the 1,037 places that were online state a free way to submit. Free and dofollow shows the ones whose link also counts for search. Start free: a paid listing usually buys a faster review, a featured spot or a dofollow link, so pay only where the place sends visitors you can see.
Where can I post my startup for free?
On most of the places here. 434 of the 1,037 that were online state a free way to submit, and communities such as subreddits and forums like Hacker News and Indie Hackers cost nothing to post in, though each has its own rule about posting your own product. Free and dofollow holds the 70 that list you for free and gave a dofollow link.
Which startup directories give a dofollow link?
We opened real listings on 247 places, and 121 of them gave a dofollow link every time. Free and dofollow has the ones that are also free to list.
Where your first users already are. Think of the places in three groups. A few are worth doing on almost every launch: your own waitlist or email list, one big launch board and one community your users already read, the short list in Start here. Next come the ones that pay off for most products if you put in the work: a smaller launch board or two, a newsletter in your niche and the directories for your category. The rest are situational: review sites once you have customers who can review you, deal sites only if you sell a lifetime deal, app stores only if you ship an app.
Which places fit my kind of product?
Match the place to the people who will buy. For B2B software, lead with your own list and the communities your buyers read, then the product directories and the review sites where buyers compare tools. For a developer tool, Show HN, Dev Hunt and developer forums such as DEV Community are home ground. For an app for everyday people, start with For consumer apps, then Product Hunt and the right subreddits. For an AI tool, add the AI directories. If people cannot use it yet, use Before you launch.
How many places should I launch on?
Fewer than most lists suggest. Five to ten places that fit your product, each done properly with a clear description and good screenshots, beat fifty done in a rush. Space them out rather than launching everywhere on one day: tell your own list a day or two early, so the people who signed up get in first and find the bugs, then one big launch board on the day you open, communities in the days after and directories over the weeks that follow. Each later post is a smaller wave of its own, and you are not asking the same people to support you in five places at once.
Are startup directories still worth it?
Some are. A few still send real visitors on launch day, and some give a link that counts for search. Many have stopped, so we leave out the dormant and dead ones, and every entry here carries the date we checked it.
Do directory backlinks still work for SEO?
A little. A dofollow link from a directory other sites trust helps a new site get found and indexed; a nofollow link passes no search credit but can still send visitors. Links from small directories run by one owner add little, so treat them as a bonus, not a plan.
How do you check each place?
Our checker opens each place's home page, its submit page and up to six real listings, without AI. A price, review time or badge rule counts only when the place's own page states it, and a link only when we read it on real listings. Anything else shows as Not known. We check places again over time, and every record shows the day we last looked; the latest checks ran Oct 14 to Nov 4, 2026. A place that starts or stops listing new products changes status at its next check.
What can I use instead of Product Hunt?
Launch boards, communities and a few specialists. Product Hunt alternatives lists the places independent round-ups name most, each checked: what it costs, whether its link counts and how to submit.
Can I launch before my product is live?
Yes, on places that take a waitlist or beta link. 10 of the places here say so on their own pages; Before you launch collects them.
How do you rank the places?
By how useful each place is to most founders: whether it is alive, who reads it, what it costs and whether its link counts. Nobody can pay to move up. The one ad on a list sits above the ranked places, labeled as an ad, and never counts.
