India Tests a 5.56-km Free-Space Quantum Key Distribution Link
QNu Labs, with Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo‑informatics and IIT Gandhinagar, demonstrated India’s first free-space Quantum Key Distribution link. The trial established a secure quantum communication channel, achieving a stable Quantum Bit Error Rate below 5% and secure key generation of 230–260 bps. The process enabled end-to-end encryption, laying a foundation for advancing India’s resilient communication infrastructure against quantum-era security threats.
