What is OSCAR, and how does it support mathematical research? In our new video, MATH+ Distinguished Fellow Michael Joswig and PhD student Zoe Geiselmann introduce the open-source algebra research system, its benefits for researchers, and learning opportunities, including the 2027 OSCAR Summer School in Berlin.

MATH+ and the BMS are delighted to announce the arrival of three new Dirichlet Postdoctoral Fellows in Berlin. We warmly welcome Hefin Lambley, Pardis Semnani, and Eliseo Luongo to the MATH+ and BMS community and wish them all the best during their two-year postdoctoral appointments at Freie Universität Berlin und Technische Universität Berlin.

Since 2016, BMS and BGSMath have held joint Junior Meetings every two years, alternating between Berlin and Barcelona to foster scientific exchange and strengthen their doctoral and postdoctoral programs. The fifth meeting took place in Barcelona from September 2–4, 2026.

Hanna Neumann Fellows Hana Dal Poz Kouřimská (University of Potsdam) and Luisa Plato (WIAS) are postdocs who use their fellowships to pursue research stays abroad. In our interview, they discussed international collaboration, women in academia, and their future research.

MATH+ welcomed Laura Chaubard, Director General and Acting President of École Polytechnique (l’X, Paris), to Berlin for a special Women’s Lunch. The event offered an opportunity to engage with a distinguished female academic leader and discuss the opportunities and challenges facing women in STEM.
