http-trane-info.nse: fix device attribution, 200-for-everything handling, nil crashes Pedro Joaquín (Oct 26)
Hi,

I'm the author of http-trane-info (Nmap 7.70).

PR #3581 fixes three bugs in it: installed equipment was reported with the
previous device's name/family/role from the second device onward, the
script crashed on firmware that omits a field in /evox/about, and the guard
against servers that answer 200 to every path let the "unknown"
identify_404 case through.

Thanks,

New OpenSSH composite key type in version 10. Loganaden Velvindron (Oct 20)
Hi nmap developers,

There has been a new key type released with OpenSSH v10 which is called:

"hybrid post-quantum ssh-mldsa44-ed25519 signature
algorithm."

I've opened a PR and would welcome feedback from nmap developers:

Request for review: Windows MaxUserPort / WSL2 networking fix (PR #3499) 山﨑結友 (Oct 03)
Hi all,

I'd appreciate a review of this PR:
https://github.com/nmap/nmap/pull/3499

Nmap's "Network Performance Improvements" installer option sets
MaxUserPort=65534. On Windows 11, I found that this changes the dynamic
port range from 49152–65535 to 1024–65534. This has been linked to WSL2
mirrored networking failures, with several users tracing the problem
to the Nmap installer:...

Re:New OS fingerprint: China Unicom ONT/ONU (Realtek/Boa) gbfdhenr (Liang Xiangan) (Aug 01)
Hi Nmap developers,

I'd like to submit service fingerprints for a China Unicom GPON ONT (model PT927G) that I found in my home network.
This device runs a Linux-based firmware (kernel 3.18.24) and exposes several services.

**Device Information**:
- Model: PT927G
- Vendor: China Unicom (customized)
- Hardware hint: SMB share comment mentions "Realtek", suggesting a Realtek chipset.

**Service Fingerprints**:
1. **HTTP (port...

Re:Correction: Huawei router misidentified as Netgear switch (fingerprint included) gbfdhenr (Liang Xiangan) (Aug 01)
Hi developers,

I'd like to add a service fingerprint for port 37443/tcp on the Huawei AX3 router.

This port runs SSL/TLS and requires client certificate authentication (mTLS). When connecting with a self-signed client
certificate, the server rejects it with a "unknown ca" alert, indicating that it verifies the client certificate
against a trusted CA.

**Certificate details:**

Subject: CN=Master.ws7100-10, O=Huawei Technologies...

Re:Correction: Huawei router misidentified as Netgear switch (fingerprint included) gbfdhenr (Liang Xiangan) (Aug 01)
Hi Nmap developers,

Following up on my previous submissions (OS fingerprint and NSE script for the Huawei AX3), I've conducted a full port
scan and discovered two additional services that may help refine the service fingerprint database.

**1. Port 37215/tcp – UPnP**
- Service identified as: `Huawei ATP gateway upnpd`
- This seems to be already correctly matched in `nmap-service-probes`. I just wanted to confirm its presence.

**2. Port...

PATCH] New NSE script: huawei-ax3-info.nse

Hi Nmap developers,

Following up on my previous OS fingerprint submission for the Huawei AX3 router (Message-ID:
<335797c9.5fe8.19fb73084b0.Coremail.gbfdhenr () 163 com>), I've developed an NSE script to extract device information
from the router's /api/system/deviceinfo endpoint.

The script retrieves:

- Hardware version
- Serial number
- Uptime
-...

Correction: Huawei router misidentified as Netgear switch (fingerprint included) gbfdhenr (Liang Xiangan) (Jul 31)
Hi Nmap team,

I've encountered a clear OS detection misidentification that I believe should be corrected.

**Device in question**:
- A Huawei home router (MAC OUI: 30:A9:98 -> Huawei Device)
- Open ports: 53, 80, 443 (typical router/AP, not a headless switch)
- Running: Linux-based firmware (likely 3.18.24)

**Current incorrect result**:
Nmap 7.99 reports it as: "Netgear GS108Tv3, GS110Tv3, or GS308T switch (Linux 3.18.24)"...

Npcap Version 1.82 Released with VLAN Tagging and More Gordon Fyodor Lyon (Apr 28)
Dear Nmap Community,

In preparation for an imminent Nmap release (hopefully this week!), we have
released Version 1.82 of our Npcap Windows packet capture and transmission
driver. It builds upon the recent 1.81 release to add support for VLAN
tagging. This allows you to select for packets directed to a certain VLAN
or just inspect the VLAN headers on any packets received. It's especially
useful for Wireshark users. You can also now send...

Nmap 7.95 released: OS and service detection signatures galore! Gordon Fyodor Lyon (May 05)
Dear Nmap Community,

I just arrived in San Francisco for the RSA conference and am delighted to
announce our Nmap Version 7.95 release! I'm most excited that we finally
tackled our backlog of OS and service detection fingerprint submissions.
We're not talking about dozens or hundreds of them-we processed more than
6,500 fingerprints!

For OS detection, we added 336 signatures, bringing the new total to 6,036.
Additions include iOS 15...

Apache Struts2 Core Arbitrary Code Execution via OGNL Sandbox Escape Daniel Owens via Fulldisclosure (Nov 01)
Description
Apache Struts2 Core version 7.4.0 and below attempt to prevent arbitrary code execution via Object-Graph Navigation
Language (OGNL) through several different mechanisms but only in a cursory fashion -- the libraries only guard against
immediate calls evaluated by the OGNL engine via `SecurityMemberAccess`, but an allowed call that, instead, accepts
nested arguments and, itself, invokes reflection internally executes outside of the...

Apache Struts2 Core TokenHelper Token Cryptographic Timing Side-Channel Daniel Owens via Fulldisclosure (Nov 01)
Description
The Apache Struts2 Core 7.4.0 and below performs session token comparisons cryptographically insecure early-exit
comparison functions (e.g., `!=`, `memcmp`, byte-by-byte loops with `break`) that return as soon as the first
mismatched byte is encountered. The execution time of the comparison is therefore proportional to the number of
leading bytes that match, creating a measurable timing side-channel. Importantly, this...

Apache Struts2 Spring Plugin Uses a Previously Closed Resource Daniel Owens via Fulldisclosure (Nov 01)
Description
The Apache Struts2 Spring Plugin opens a Spring `ApplicationContex` via a try-with-resources block and, outside of said
block, then continues to use the closed resource, resulting in an uncaught `IllegalStateException`. This particular
issue prevents proper functionality and indicates poor code quality and code review standards and processes, while not
being, itself, otherwise excessively meaningful for a production environment...

Apache Struts2 Core Integer Overflow Daniel Owens via Fulldisclosure (Nov 01)
Description
Apache Struts2 Core version 7.4.0 and below fails to properly prevent integer overflows, causing wrap-arounds and other
issues on a downstream forced casting into types smaller than `BigInteger`. Importantly, this finding underscores why
all applications using Struts and other such platforms should perform their own input validation checks and not blindly
assume that the upstream Struts2 code has done as such, but the finding also...

Apache Struts2 Core Cross-Origin Protection Exemption Miskeyed to a Deployment-Wide Path Daniel Owens via Fulldisclosure (Nov 01)
Description
Apache Struts2 Core version 7.4.0 and below's `FetchMetadataInterceptor`, `CoepInterceptor`, and `CoopInterceptor` each
compare their `exemptedPaths` configuration -- a per-interceptor-reference, administrator-supplied set of paths
intended to exempt specific actions from the corresponding cross-origin protection -- against
`HttpServletRequest.getContextPath()`. `getContextPath()` is fixed for the entire deployed web...

Apache Struts2 REST Plugin Fails to Properly Parse Chunked Requests Daniel Owens via Fulldisclosure (Nov 01)
Description
The Apache Struts2 REST Plugin's (version 7.4.0 and below) `ContentTypeInterceptor.intercept(ActionInvocation)` only
deserialises a request body and enforces the `struts.rest.content.maxLength` bound when
`HttpServletRequest#getContentLength()` returns a positive value. `getContentLength()` returns `-1` whenever the
`Content-Length` header is absent, which normal and appropriate for any Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP)...

Apache Struts2 REST Plugin Untrimmed `Accept` Header Tokens Break Content Negation Fallback Daniel Owens via Fulldisclosure (Nov 01)
Description
The Apache Struts2 REST Plugin's `DefaultContentTypeHandlerManager.getHandlerForResponse(HttpServletRequest,
HttpServletResponse)` splits the `Accept` header on commas and passes each resulting token directly to
`findHandler(String)` without trimming leading or trailing whitespace. `findHandler(String)` only retries a trimmed
lookup when a token contains a semicolon (`;`), so a token that merely carries a leading space has no...

Apache Struts2 JSON Plugin Insecure Deserialisation -- Object Deserialisation Element-Count Limit Bypass Daniel Owens via Fulldisclosure (Nov 01)
As of the current versions of the Apache Struts2 JSON Plugin (e.g., version 7.4.0 and the 7.5.0 snapshot dated 28
October 2026), attackers can bypass the element-count limit purported to protect Object deserialisation added to said
code as part of the WW-5618 and S2-072 "hardening controls". Please note that this vulnerability and the attack string
is different than the previously reported bypass against the JSON array...

[0day-rubbish] Raritan PX3 PDU G4 firmware 4.3.14 command injection in the ping and traceroute diagnostics through an inverted hostname-validation return check (8.8) disclosure via Fulldisclosure (Oct 28)
0day Rubbish Research Team is publicly disclosing a vulnerability in the
Raritan PX3 PDU G4, firmware version 4.3.14, the intelligent rack power
distribution unit from Raritan, a Legrand company (United States). A
low-privilege authenticated session converts one diagnostics request into
operating-system command execution in the product's web-service context,
because the hostname validation that is supposed to gate the ping and

[0day-rubbish] NUUO Crystal Server 3.19.0.85 unauthenticated upload.php PHP web-root write with fastcgi execution into server-side code execution as the web service account (9.8 Critical) disclosure via Fulldisclosure (Oct 28)
0day Rubbish Research Team is publicly disclosing a vulnerability in NUUO
Crystal Server 3.19.0.85, the video management and NVR server software from
NUUO Inc. of Taipei (Taiwan), distributed as the Crystal virtual-machine
appliance: an Ubuntu-based OVA whose web tier is a lighttpd server fronting

Last month was DistrictCon, a great conference that I did not attend

spent more than ten minutes in that city knows this is how you cancel every

Re: Defense ? Dean Pierce via Dailydave (Nov 16)
I like the idea of having a software supply chain that people can pay into
that basically funds a universal bug bounty system for anything that
matters.

You can put systems in place that utilize zero knowledge exploitability
proofs to automate bounty triage, so it doesn't even need to be run by a
central trusted entity. As the bounty markets stabilize, what you're left
with is a software ecosystem where anyone can build what they need...

Re: Defense ? Chris Anley via Dailydave (Nov 16)
(gingerly raises head above parapet)

Historically, “we’ve” moved the bar in defense.

- Everything is now in the cloud, accessible 24/7 via APIs whose keys are stored in plaintext alongside code, or via
preauthenticated sessions
- Everything has ~40 dependencies, each of which has ~40 dependencies, etc, which, combined with a published CVE rate
of 1 per 15 minutes (calendar year 2024), means that patching an enterprise before an...

Re: Defense ? Alfonso De Gregorio via Dailydave (Nov 16)
Imbalances in the skills and workforce are real. The gap remains hard
to bridge also in the presence of greater degrees of automation that
AI buys us, because, at this stage, we want humans to be in the loop –
and for good reasons – and, also, cause we are not going to grow the
skillset faster than the attack surface, I am afraid.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but I will take a bite
regardless: those imbalances are a byproduct of the...

Re: Defense ? Conan Dooley via Dailydave (Nov 16)
Reduce complexity, duplication, and scope in your infrastructure. Your
developers and infrastructure staff would need to agree on standardized
libraries, frameworks, etc, and you'd need skilled technical staff to
validate when people said doing something wasn't possible within that
scope, and make them accountable for making sure adding that level of
complexity led to business value that was greater than that overhead (vs,

Defense ? Dave Aitel via Dailydave (Nov 15)
How would one actually move the actual bar in defense? A big part of me
thinks that you're just not going to patch your way out of the problem. But
the number of organizations that you can rely on to actually make a
difference seems pretty small? Like even converting every Linux binary to
rust would only make sense if you could find a team that could actually
maintain and support that code base, which I don't know that you could.

DAZN content - CDN Aaron Gould via NANOG (Nov 03)
Hi all, I'm interested in getting DAZN content like San Antonio Spurs
games through an efficient CDN cache if it exists.  I here DAZN partners
with MainStreaming (and seems like others too... Amazon CloudFront,
Akamai) for CDN content distribution.  Does DAZN and/or MainStreaming
have an ISP-level embedded caching product?

Re: RFC 10023 - A DNS convention for signalling domains for sale Marco Davids (Private) via NANOG (Nov 02)
Where I'm from, this could arguably be considered an unlawful act.

Why am I getting the feeling that I've fallen through a wormhole into about 1999?

Re: RFC 10023 - A DNS convention for signalling domains for sale Chris via NANOG (Nov 02)
If you hold the position that CyberSquatters suck and return NXDOMAIN
on this resource for all your customers as a service. Doesn't this sort
of reverse it's purposed intent?

RE: RFC 10023 - A DNS convention for signalling domains for sale John R. Levine via NANOG (Nov 02)
I suppose that's hypothetically possible but it's hard to imagine it'd be
worth the effort. There are a lot of domains for sale (even though few
have the tag) and most are basically worthless.

It is also my impression that turning NXDOMAIN into web ads has largely
gone away. A lot of the ISPs I see don't even bother to provide a DNS
cache and point the customers at 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8.

John

-----Original Message-----

I am plenty familiar. I think you've misunderstood the scenario. I'm talking about an end-user trying to browse to
your for-sale domain. The user's ISP (handling the DNS query) sees your domain's for-sale TXT record and redirects the
user to their (the user's ISP) own site. Like some do now for NXDOMAIN.

You, the domain seller, would never get their web traffic and so would lose out on...

Re: RFC 10023 - A DNS convention for signalling domains for sale John Levine via NANOG (Nov 01)
According to Adam Maloney via NANOG <nanog () lists nanog org>:

Having opportunistically bought and sold a few domains over the years, that
would be fine. I can't ever think of a domain offered for sale that had mail
traffic anyone cared about. The closest is when someone out of the blue offered
me significant money for one of my .com domains and I made a private arrangement
to keep an MX pointing to me for a while as I moved the few...

From: Al Iverson via NANOG <nanog () lists nanog org>

My first thought of what this would actually end up being used for is certain ISP's to further "maximize shareholder
value" by intercepting web requests for these domains like some do now for NXDOMAIN. Serve up some targeted ads,
attempt to insert yourself into the sales process, whatever.

Although to fully monetize you need to get paid...

Re: RFC 10023 - A DNS convention for signalling domains for sale Al Iverson via NANOG (Nov 01)
Gosh, it would be terrible if folks were to use this DNS record as a
negative reputation indicator, suggesting that it might be best to
disallow mail or traffic from a domain given that it is likely owned
by a domain speculator or hoarder.

Re: RFC 10023 - A DNS convention for signalling domains for sale brent saner via NANOG (Oct 31)
Fully agreed!

This is also true. I'd consider many Informational to be "Virtually
Standard", though, and even some BCPs require Informationals as requisite
for implementation. So it's certainly not as clear-cut over the years as
the IETF likely originally intended it to be. (Though you are right in that
it doesn't help that there's plenty of ...*opportunistic*, to be generous,
framing of some of them.)

Of course,...

Generally true. But your proposed mechanisms have some issues. See below.

This just leads to "domain straw purchases" and "reputation laundering".

1. Alice buys example.com and runs a phishing campaign from it, burning
it.
2. Alice sells example.com to a direct associate, Bob.
3. example.com rep is cleared.
4. Bob runs a phishing campaign from example.com.

Re: RFC 10023 - A DNS convention for signalling domains for sale Kevin Tillery via NANOG (Oct 31)
AIUI, many informational RFCs are describing things that are already done in practice, so there is no opportunity for
the standards track process to amend them and there is no point putting them through the standards track process.

Re: RFC 10023 - A DNS convention for signalling domains for sale Tom Beecher via NANOG (Oct 31)
Informational RFCs have their place. I am not arguing that they do not.
This particular subject is perfectly acceptable as an info RFC.

However, a long-running trend exists where people publish an info RFC, and
then proceed to promote it in a way that implies it's an accepted standard
to garner adoption. The OP didn't here, but has done that elsewhere.

I know that you know the distinctions between the RFC types, but many
don't,...

It would, but having spent last week at the ICANN meeting in Indonesia, I

As someone else said, this TXT record can be interesting if you're
