FAQs – Aimsun Next licensing, editions and prices

1. What editions of Aimsun Next are available, and how much do they cost?
There are four editions. Standard annual subscription prices are: Lite €2,000, Pro €3,500, Advanced €5,500 and Expert €7,500. Prices can differ slightly by region or currency so Contact us to request an exact quote. 

2. Are prices per seat or per instance?
Prices are per seat. Each seat lets you run two instances or sessions of Aimsun Next at the same time on one computer – a very useful feature as it allows transport modellers to run two tasks simultaneously, such as running a scenario while editing another model. 

3. Is there a discount for the public sector?
Yes! Government organisations and public authorities get a 25% discount.

4. Can I buy a perpetual licence or a hardware key?
No. Aimsun Next is sold only as a subscription, and we no longer supply hardware keys (dongles).

5. Are there volume discounts?
Consultancies or organisations with multiple teams and projects globally should enquire about an Industry Partnership with Aimsun as this offers bundles of licenses, training and other significant benefits. Contact sales@aimsun.com.  

6. How big a network can I model with Lite?
Lite covers up to 20 intersections and 40 km of lanes, which suits corridors and focused studies. Pro, Advanced and Expert have no limit on network size.

7. Do I need Expert for public transport studies?
Not always. Public transport assignment can be part of a multi-scale study. You need Expert when the study also includes integrated travel demand modelling.

8. Can I try Aimsun Next before I buy?
Yes. You can try Aimsun Next Expert free for 30 days, with full access to every feature and no credit card needed. Ask for our free trial and get it immediately. 

9. Can I use my subscription in any country?
Yes. Subscriptions can be used anywhere in the world.

10. How do I get a quote and get started?
Contact us and select the option to Request a Quote in the form’s dropdown menu. If you’re not sure which edition you need, ask our customer service team to guide you. Once you subscribe, Customer Service will email you an installation link with step-by-step instructions. You can then manage your subscription at my.aimsun.com.
