Things I do not want to forget #
I use too much punctuation, probably wrong — across a photo journal, collection of links, (& other random stuff).

Some Places to Start
About me
A quick intro.
Monthly Email Digest
NEW – I made this monthly summary that combines the highs, lows, links and then some for family and friends’ inboxes.
Cincinnati Favorites
I love my home town. When folks come to visit I share this ever-evolving list of favorite places to eat, see and experience.
Things I do not need
To stop myself from buying stuff online, I made this page to scratch the itch and intentionally left out the links.

Partial advice from my future self
I found an old selfie from 20 years ago and wrote a list of advice for him.
The Kitchen Drawer
A bunch of lists, tidbits and miscellany strewn about this site — a sitemap for things that get lost.
The Chapters of Your Life
This started as a presentation about intent and photography that my good friend Erik turned into a short film as a birthday surprise during the pandemic. It’s heavy, but I like to think in a good way.
Creative Mornings Talk
This video from 2013 is long, but lays out who I am and why I think design is awesome. I was nervous as heck through the whole thing.
My old website
I refuse to throw anything away (digitally at least). Here’s my old site cobbled together with spacer gifs and tables.

Maggie Rogers – Light On (La Blogothèque)
La Blogothèque's live recordings are excellent in general, but this one is extra excellent. I've played this video 10 times so far this week to bask in the goodness.

The convergence of design
Luke Wroblewski collects a smattering of products to show their evolution. The sameness is stark when viewed from this angle, and he raises a question in summary that our next technology has not found it's optimized form.

Apple’s Welcome Home promo
This is me making note of needlepoint again, because I love color and texture, and this Apple promo for an upcoming event has both.

The Beginning Comes After the End
I continue to enjoy the weekly updates from Ruben Bos that combine something he's illustrated, read and listened to. On his 50th installment he takes a step back for a level set. His reflection mirrors personal experiences and feelings that span industry and empathy.

Tired
David Friedman stumbled on a Reddit thread about tired women in paintings and gathered samples in his newsletter. He went down a few rabbit holes with different subjects, but an overarching takeaway was that we are in tiring times. This reminded me of artist Nayland Blake's recent manifesto, which takes a long view of tired.

Vivian Maier, self portraits
The FotoFocus Biennial is happening in Cincinnati right now (along with oodles of other October events). It brings 74 photography exhibitions to the region. It was at this event years ago when I first saw Vivian Maier's work hanging on a wall. I revisited the website dedicated to her photography and it continues to astound. This collection of self portraits finds her as a shadow or reflection with sombre expression. But there's one shot where she's smiling, and I like to think it's because she caught herself in a moving mirror at just the right time.

Occlution Grotesque
Bjørn Karmann carved an alphabet into a tree trunk and captured the letterforms to make a typeface. He has returned some years later to create variants as it evolves.

Command-line tool removes Apple Intelligence from macOS 27
Saving this for the day when I'm forced to upgrade my computer. Maybe by then the toggles to tailor AI features won't be scattered by that point, but just in case.

Destroy Any Website
Home from a largely off grid vacation and catching up on web surfing. This link was shared often and best experienced on a big computer (not a phone). It took me a minute to realize mouse clicks were for shooting.
