The Matrix Charging® system consists of two components: a vehicle unit on the vehicle underbody (Matrix Charging® Connector) and the charging plate in the parking space surface (Matrix Charging® Pad). As soon as the vehicle parks above the Matrix Charging® Pad in the parking space, the vehicle is automatically charged via the direct physical connection.

Yes, Matrix Charging® fully supports bidirectional charging. Because the charging connection process is automated, vehicles connect to the grid every time they park regardless of state of charge. Thereby, EVs are turned into reliable, predictable energy assets that can support the grid.
A real-world example: Nissan and Easelink are collaborating to unlock the potential of vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology by automating the EV-to-grid connection.
To implement a global Matrix Charging® standard, Easelink is working with leading international automotive and supplier companies on the basis of licensing models. The licensees can market the system independently, which enables the best possible cross-manufacturer scaling of the technology and the business model.
Easelink is actively driving international standardization for Matrix Charging® through participation in leading standards bodies, including the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
To complement this formal standardization work, Easelink also co-founded the Matrix Charging Interest Group, where relevant technical parameters for the automated charging interface are harmonized at the pace the industry needs to secure interoperability and paving the way toward a global industry standard.
