    British Columbia declared a provincewide state of emergency Saturday afternoon. 馃敟馃槩 More than 100 wildfires are burning across the province. Roughly 21,700 people have been forced from their homes, while another 9,700 remain under evacuation alert.

    West Vancouver police stopped a vehicle carrying four massive drums of vegetable oil strapped to its roof over the B.C. Day long weekend. Officers say the dangerously unsecured and overweight load was taken off the road.

    These incredible sand sculptures won't be around much longer. The Parksville Beach Festival is back on Vancouver Island, featuring massive sand sculptures by international master artists under this year's theme, "Beauties & Beasts." The festival runs until Aug. 16.
