Research

DensityDesign research lab explores visual representation from a design perspective.

Our research combines theoretical and epistemological reflections on visualization with the study of how people perceive and understand visual information. We also develop tools and frameworks for data visualization, as well as experimental approaches to visual storytelling and speculative narratives. Through our research and practice, we investigate how visual representation can contribute to new ways of producing knowledge.

Diagrams are central to our work: rather than providing definitive answers, we see diagrams as tools for asking better questions about complex phenomena. They open up new directions for research, suggest alternative interpretations, and create opportunities for action and intervention.

DensityDesign is an interdisciplinary research lab that welcomes collaborations with public institutions, NGOs, universities, and companies.
