Orthorexia nervosa (ON) is characterized by excessive and rigid concern with healthy eating, which may cause dietary restrictions and reduced food variety, compromising a balanced relationship with food and individuals’ quality of life. Objective: To analyze the contributions of nutrition principles to the management of ON. Methodology: An integrative literature review was conducted in the LILACS, SciELO, and PubMed databases, including studies published between 2021 and 2026. Results: Associations were observed between ON, dietary rigidity, perfectionism, and obsessive-compulsive characteristics, as well as dietary restrictions, reduced food variety, and difficulties in maintaining a balanced diet. Conclusion: Nutrition may promote nutritional adequacy, dietary variety, and flexibility in food rules through an individualized and multidisciplinary approach.
