Contemporary public security requires strategies that go beyond traditional crime control by incorporating preventive actions aimed at promoting citizenship, strengthening communities, and reducing social vulnerability. This study analyzed the importance of the Active Prevention Group (GPA) of the Military Police of the State of Pará as a social prevention policy. A mixed qualitative and quantitative, applied, exploratory, and descriptive design was adopted, combining literature review, documentary research, and a closed-ended questionnaire administered to military police officers. The results revealed a predominantly favorable perception of the GPA's preventive and community role, particularly regarding closer relations between the Military Police and communities, the strengthening of community policing, and the potential expansion of its actions. Needs for improvement were also identified in professional training, planning, and institutional structure. The study concludes that the GPA has relevant preventive and community potential, but its institutional strengthening requires continuous training, planned personnel expansion, intersectoral coordination, and systematic evaluation.
