updating plugins

  • Hi team,

I have an old client site with GP. License is active on that site. I can’t update the GP plugins.

I no longer build out sites these days. How do I update the plugins? It’s a security liability for the customer.

Hope we’re not forced to pay $150 annually to just update plugins? 🙁

    Thanks

  • Hi there,

If the license is activated on the site, then the site should be able to update the GP Premium plugin.

Do you see any specific errors when trying to update the plugin?

  • Hi Ying,

ive given you login credentials to confirm license too in private section, thank you in advance.

  • Your license expired on March 25; that’s why it can not be updated:

  • Ah interesting… Ying, can you connect me with the owner or management?

It doesn’t make sense to pay $150 annually just to update the plugins for security reasons.

  • Hi there,

I manage accounts for GeneratePress. Happy to clarify.

First, the security concern: I’ve checked with our development team, and there haven’t been any notable security fixes in GenerateBlocks Pro since your license expired in March. The version on your client’s site isn’t exposed to any known issues that have been patched since. Everything on the site also keeps working as it is. An expired license never disables features.

The renewal fee covers ongoing development, updates, and support. That’s what funds the security work in the first place, so updates are tied to an active license. It’s the same model as most premium WordPress plugins.

If you don’t renew, the site will keep running fine on its current version. If a security release is ever announced, that would be the time to renew.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Stacey,

I simply can’t afford to pay $150 to update 1 plugin on this non-profit website.

With past companies, I usually pay for a plugin once and get unlimited updates. Features cost more, but security updates are free because of liability reasons.

Can you please make an exception? Your team can update the plugins for me. I’ve given access to the site.

Your GP Premium plugin has a pretty big security vulnerability:

Arbitrary File Upload: Attackers can upload malicious files to the server, which can be used to take it over.

  • I’m sending you an email with security fixes 🙂

  • Thank you so much Stacey!!! Thank you 🙂
