Schedule the next Office Hours: weekday trial, date, moderator and note-taker #3679
Discussed in the Office Hours on September 26, 2026 (#3641). The last Saturday sessions had low attendance. The next session will therefore take place on a weekday as a trial, avoiding Monday and Friday. Sumit will set the date, time, moderator and note-taker after presenting the trial at the Tuesday meeting.
Work steps
Present the weekday trial as a proposal at the next Tuesday meeting and collect feedback
Set the date and time: Tuesday, October 27, Wednesday, October 28, or Thursday, October 29. The time is open; during the day most people are at work, and evenings often clash with meetups
Assign the moderator
Assign the note-taker and name a backup in case the assigned person cannot attend at short notice
Create a "Run and document Office Hours on …" issue for the session, following #3641
Announce the date in the #training channel and post a short reminder on the Monday before the session, with date, time, Zoom link, moderator and topic
After the session, record whether the weekday brought more participation, and decide whether to keep it
Context
October 21 or 22 and October 28 or 29, 2026 were mentioned. After the session, Sumit suggested the last week of October because of Navratri and Dussehra in India (October 11 to 20). The argument against a weekday is that most people work during the day and meetups take place in the evening; that is why it is a trial. If nobody volunteers as moderator or note-taker, Sumit takes it on himself; if he is unavailable, Rico steps in.
