Sorry, But We're Not Sorry

Image
No, we're not sorry to hear of Robert Novak's death at age 78. Churlish? Perhaps. But Novak, who proudly adopted the epithet "The Prince of Darkness," was a right-wing hack and shill for the powerful for over 40 years as a columnist and cable pundit. (Tellingly, among the first to rush out with press releases were Missy McConnell and Man Tan Boehner.) Infamously, Novak was responsible for gladly doing the Bush Assministration's bidding in outing CIA agent Valerie Plame in 2003, in one of his more scurrilous columns. He was neither a nice man nor an honorable "journalist." He won't be missed by us.

Give This Man A Seeing Eye Dog

Image
Right wing pundit Robert "Prince of Darkness" Novak was cited yesterday in D.C. for hitting a man on a bicycle with his Corvette convertable. Thankfully, the man escaped with minor injuries. Novak claims that he "didn't see the man" who was momentarily sprawled across the passenger side windshield.

Can't someone take away this wingnut's toys before he really hurts someone?

Letters We Wish We'd Written

From today's WaPo, a letter responding to a recent column by Rethug water carrier and Dark Prince, Robert Novak:

"In his March 20 op-ed column, 'The Fed on a Limb,' Robert D. Novak stated: 'The prospect of a populist new Democratic administration and Democratic Congress that will impose higher taxes and trade protections contributes to what is seen as an international buyers' strike by investors that is feeding the financial crisis.'

Maybe I'm wrong, but I suspect that years of record federal budget deficits, lax fiscal oversight of capital markets (under the guise of 'pro-business' policies) and the tragic diminution of our country's standing in the global diplomatic arena have had slightly more impact on the financial crisis than the impending change in administrations. Nice try, though. Bill Sawicki, Washington"
